My buddy is building an Sr18de+T and i wanted to know if an s14 sr20det ecu would work with that motor. I know we'd have to get it tuned, i just want to know if anyone else has done this because i can't find info on it anywhere. Thanks

Why a 1.8, and why keep it on a stock ECU if that is the case?

Either way a stock ECU will not operate a 1.8 properly without a tune, and even then you're going to need someone who knows what they are doing to make it work.

Well we don't exactly have the stock ecu, so I was wanting to know if i could just use the sr20det ecu and not have to hunt another one down. The car is going to have to be tuned regardless, i know that.

In a little less 'foggy' mindset, I would say it really depends on how the harness is setup. The OBDII based plugs (we'll call them white plugs) are not as interchangable as the OBD1 (blue plug) ECU's in regard to running different cars.

You may be better off running a alternative EMS than monkeying with finding a factory ecu (assuming its' a white plug) to work.

Well, the issue you have is the harness/ECU plug. S13 SRs, S14 zenki, S14 kouki/S15s have different plugs. Then you still have the pin out variances on the S13s and late model type-X 180sx.
