im doing another clutch job on a S14 KA and on my last one i noticed how soft the pilot bearing was and even with a soft wooden block when hammering it in, because it's so soft it would kinda crack around the edges and kinda press/roll over on the edge. i got it in but i felt like that made it harder to get the input shaft in when putting the transmission back on.

was wondering what methods others have used to press the new pilot bearing in before i go at it tonight.

Grease the crank, slide pilot bearing in, tap it in with a socket and rubber mallet.

If it cracked at all you need to pull it back out and install another

i bought an extra just in case but this one went in easier than the last one i worked on. the LUK kit i did on the last clutch job came with a soft ass pilot bearing. the one i got in the exedy kit was much easier.

thanks for chiming in. just thought it was me.
