how do I tell if I have the right year of ecu for a ca18det?

also If I had the wrong ecu what symptoms would be present?

the ecu I have is a 78 and I have a manual trans

any input would be much appreciated

I have been looking for 3 days. I haven't found
Anything helpful.

I know that the 7* ecu are for 180sx CAs
And the 9* are for the 200sx and are newer.
I'm just trying to find out what the difference between
The two are.

And what would happen if it was the wrong one.

Pretty much every other part that came with my
Swap was wrong, I figured I better check the ecu also.

If you post a pic of the ECU sticker I can tell you what the ECU goes to when i get off work

I'm not sure how to post pictures on here yet. And I'm at work.
But I will try when I get home

This is exactly what it say on the ecu

Obviously I know what ecu I have.
I'm trying to figure out if that ECU is right
For the engine I have.

I.E. I'm trying to figure out what my engine
came out of, and how to tell what differences the engines have
From the 2 types of ECUs

Google is your friend. So lame when people can't figure out how to answer the simplest questions for themselves.

ECU Codes (includes codes for CA18DET)
65 = S13 (CA18DET) ? - 88-90 Silvia/180sx
66 = S13 (CA18DET) ? - 88-90 Silvia/180sx Euro
76 = S13 (CA18DET) ? - 88-90 Silvia/180sx Euro
79 = S13 (CA18DET) ? - 88-90 Silvia/180sx
98 = S13 (CA18DET) MT5 - 88-90 Silvia/180sx

looks like doesn't matter which ECU you have. it will all work on CA18DET.

thank you for the reply, I appreciate your help

does it not really matter what ecu you have as long as its for the ca18det with a manual trans/

would a ecu for a s12 ca18det/w manual trans run a s13, or 180sx the same engine and trans?

my issue is that I'm going insane trying to figure out why my engine is running so badly. and in my struggle I have found that most of the component parts that came with my swap were for different engines

meaning the injectors, maf and other things were probably for a tuned ecu and the one that came with it is an oem ecu that he had laying around, so I don't really know if its right for my engine

If you're running larger injectors or a different maf with a stock ecu of COURSE it's gonna run like shit!

It's all back to stock oem now

That ECU is for a 89-91 CA18DET MT
