What causes the throttle body to get dirty?! SR20 running like shit

Hey Guys,


Every couple of weeks or so my car starts running like shit. I've figured out that it's the throttle body that keeps getting dirty...either that or it's the IACV. I normally just end up cleaning both and then the maf to get it running correctly again.

When I say running like shit I'm talking about it hesitation, sluggish, bad mpg. What do you guys think is causing my Throttle or IACV to get dirty this often?

If you have a turbo it's possible that the oil seals are leaking, and its engine oil in your charge pipes that is causing it.

It's a S13 blacktop sr20det, I'll have to check it out I never expected to be the turbo because im not losing oil nor is it smoking but I will definately check it out

have you looked inside the intercooler to see if its oily?

I'd say worn oil pump coupled with crappy oil. Which did a bad job at lubricating the turbo, making it fail. Now that it has play, oil goes through the seals and in your intake.

It probably is doing quite a number to your engine too.
