Hey guys, I searched on the forums and internet and cant get an answer so decided to post the problem hoping someone can help.

I went ahead and tried to remove my bellhousing from my stock s14 tranny, it separated but only about an inch, it wont come completely off. From pics and videos it looks like the gears should all stay to the back of the tranny and the front bellhousing should just slide off. But mine won't. I already removed the 2 snap rings that hold the shaft so that can't be the problem. Any suggestions or bolts I may have missed?? I don't see anything that could be keeping it together. and when I try to separate it the gears stick toward the front of the bellhousing. Any ideas?

It should just slide off, you missed something or have it at an angle.
sometimes it helps to rise the engine a bit to clear.
There are youtube videos that show you how to do this.
Double check your work again.

Good luck

It's already apart from the engine, I'm just trying to separate the bell housing to swap to another tranny

really... at this point honestly I usually just wiggle it till it pops off
never has really gotten stuck for me

put it back together (without bolts) and turn the crank a bit and then trying again

Check to make sure you aren't missing any bolts as they will be dirty and hard to spot but if you say it came out an inch it should just wiggle off.

Pictures are worth a thousand words here... Take a few pictures of the inside of the hell housing and post them up. You either missed something or it's just being difficult.

Looks like another snap ring on the main input shaft bearing or is that just me seeing shit?

I already got the 2 rings off, the shaft moves about a quarter inch in and out so I don't think I missed it any. I tried using a rubber mallet but it won't budge.

So I got it off. For anyone wondering what the problem was, I was trying to separate it in the wrong section, theirs a plate in between the front bell housing and the back and I originally separated it toward the back. Problem is solved thanks for everyone who tried to help!!

Ah yes, I didn't even notice that. Thanks for posting back up what the fix was. It'll help someone down the road who can use the search function.
