I am a first time owner of a 95 s14. I am in need of a clutch fan. I went to the pick and pull but all the ka24 engines were picked clean. I need to know what other type of cars will fit my s14.

Buy one of his or wire up an E-fan for a second option.

Thanks for the offer. I'm looking to buy in local area. I hear a clutch fan is better for cooling than a e-fan. Correct?

i have a vg30e in a d21..ditched clutch fan and shroud. put on 14" e fan....now overheats.
ima try the "s13" 16" efan and shroud to see if that works.
the shroud does quite a bit of cooling fyi.

I just encountered a problem with my e-fan. ok so the previous owner hooked up some cheap e-fans. The kind that have JUST and off and on switch. Little to my mind I thought "oh cool. I'm sure this is the best and cheapest way to cool my engine." so JUST yesterday the little connector thing fried and now they won't turn on. So to my basic understanding (anybody feel free to correct me) is those cheap e-fans do not know when to turn off. Because you manually control them. The stock clutch fan turns on and off when it picks up a sense from the engine. BUT their are better solutions to the e-fans. You can buy them on frsport (they are quite pricey but worth it) that can wire up to a sensor and they will automatically turn off and on when needed. Just my 2 cents. But if you want to be safe and cheap, Stock fans are the way to go. Sorry for the long reply.

i got an efan cuz my clutch fan always ran. and never let the motor get warm.
i rigged my efan straight to batter and a switch. dont use a fuse or anything.

plus i had to ditch my clutch fan to make room...for my exhaust..

Thanks for the insight. I do agree about the e fans. At first I thought would be good but like you said better to be safe then sorry

Well if you do the e-fans well then they can also be just as good or better then the clutch fan. On frsport for $300 you get the flex-a-lite fans that are programmable to turn on and off at a certain temperature.

Thanks for the help. I pulled a clutch fan off a pathfinder. I hope it fits because
They had a bigger engine. I do plan on going Efan eventually I just need my car running for now.

Once again thanks.

So the pathfinder fan I found does not fit the 240 shroud I have.
I will need to make another trip to the junkyard to source out anther fan

try altima fans man
been running them a year or so with no clutch fan and my car stays cool, even in the Texas summer heat

I have some Altima E-Fans laying around that have been trimmed for an sr20 radiator, but i'm sure they could be made to fit a ka rad as well.

Why don't you just buy a used one from a member offering it to you, instead of making trips to the yard and hoping to find what you need?

Use the clutch fan please. DO it for your engine. As you have already heard, Electric fans are far more unreliable. yes the OEM versions such as "altima fans" are possibly more reliable, thanks to being OEM, but you must consider that wiring them has to be as "perfect" and close to OEM as possible also, which most people cannot achieve.

nissan installed an electric fan, afterall, on your OEM radiator. But did they stop there? no, there is also a clutch fan, isnt there? I think they are trying to tell us: use both if possible. :D

like previously stated, clutch fans are more reliable.
sure there are some dependable, reliable electric fans,
but clutch fans are KNOWN to be reliable and they may fail but its a rare occasion (ive never heard of one failing.)

:rawk::rawk::bowrofl:Problem solved. Went to anothe scrapyard pulled a fan off a hardbody. Was in decent condition. A couple small cracks, nothing serious. Cost me 12 bucks and got the 240 running. It was like fate. There several other pickups none of which had a fan some had no motors just the one that I found. All in all it worked out.

Thank you all for your insights. If I got anymore questions ill be sure to post again.

Obviously though, some parts are different. Such as intake manifold.

any RWD car with a 4 bolt clutch fan will work...

J30, Q45, S13 / S14, D21, frontier... etc etc

Pretty much a hardbody is the same engine as a 240 with some differences. Just make sure you are pulling it off a 4cyl and not a V6.

If you want to use an E-Fan F*** aftermarket, they all suck ( or lack of)IMO. use altima fans they SUCK (A LOT OF AIR), or buy new 350z Efans, I hear they suck babies from their mothers arms.

as for a clutch fan, you can use and from the hard body trucks, SR's, S13/14's, Might be able to use a Q45 as well. I only eyballed the Q45 it looks close enough but test fit if you can.

I can tell you the Hardbody (D21) with z24 motor has a smaller fan than a S14. I would buy one from someone parting out their car, like FalKon said. $25 tops!

I agree with that. But remember 90-97 harbody pick-ups have ka24 engines so swapping simple things such has a clutch fan are compatible.
