I'm sorta new to cars so bare with me, sorry if its simple stuff... I've tried to research I just can't find much on this particular problem, I'm going to keep looking because maybe ive missed it but thought I'd just see if anyone here could help

So I was going to set my timing today on my redtop sr20det, need it to be at 20 degrees btdc for my ecu tune. My car sorta "skips" sometimes at idle I guess thats what I'd call it, thought it might be because of the timing being a little off. So before doing anything I just hooked up the light to see what it would read. I did not unplug the tps i just left everything alone, I was told that it can be done either way. So my car was warmed up, no reving or anything just sat for a complete mins and was idling at about 950-1000 rpm. which is slighty high i believe. So here's a video of what it was doing at 950 rpms...

Kinda hard to hear but when it goes back and forth from 20 to 15 you can hear the "skipping" ..What could be causing this? ...but after that I barely revved it up and then my car stayed idling at 1200rpms. I cleaned the IACV yesterday with compressed air the screw is completely closed. stayed at 1200 yesterday also and used to stay at 1200 before cleaning but the screw was not all the way down. Maybe a vacuum leak? Anyways here it is at 1200... its where I want it to be but its idling too high.

So I'm trying to figure out whats going on here and how to fix it?

But that could be the least of my worries... I now have a leak which i think is coming from the gasket above the oil pan. Dont know what it is called and dont know what is leaking. I literally just changed my oil like less than 50 miles ago and this stuff is dark, seems very thin almost like water, doesnt smell like straight oil and dont smell coolant in it either, I honestly can barely smell it, really no idea... just hope my headgasket isnt leaking but I have no other signs of that. I'm almost thinking I might have a leaky injector so its gas/oil mixture. I do notice a gas smell from my car when my car is on but I just thought it was just because I've got straight pipes

Thats the gasket where I think its coming from and dripping down. What is this gasket? Is it hard to replace? And below is just how much came out after about 10 mins of idling.

Sorry for all the questions, I try to figure everything out with out asking first but really just didn't know what to do this time and the timing is just confusing me. Any help is appreciated, thanks

The leak is from the "upper oil pan". Basically the SR's oil pan is split. The lower being the actual pan and the upper being the carrier or spacer more or less. Whatever you want to refer to it as. Long story short, your probably going to have to change it, and it's not a lot of fun to do.

yep, thanks, I figured out the leak, need sealant not a gasket, gotta drop crossmember... blah blah.. Dunno why the oil is so thin though?

And the timing issue is that first video normal? I read the ecu advances and retards timing by itself at idle? I'm going to try to unplug tps, check the reading and lower my idle if i can. My car seems to run fine otherwise, except when I rev it under 3k rpm the rpms drop down to about 700 then go to normal right away then above 3k they drop down even lower but go back in a second or 2, hasnt stalled on me

the oil is thin because it had to squeeze through that tiny crevice :tardrim:

noooope, whatever that is it isnt oil, and its still leaking, maybe dirty ps fluid idk, because I definitely have an oil leak now, nice clean oil is coming out. And a lot of condensation shit is dripping outta my last exhuast gasket, wtf so many leaks just appeared at once --- Unplugged my tps at an attempt to read my timing that way, car idled at 1800rpm with it unplugged Iacv screw all the way closed. wtf. 1200rpm with tps plugged in.
a very nice Coolant leak has also now appeared

Well it could be PS fluid if its dripping down from the PS pump above it. But if it is leaking right there and not dripping down, then it's oil from inside the engine.
