Need some advice here. Lately I've been having issues with my rb20 starting when it's cold. It takes a couple of tries to get going (unless starting fluid is involved) and when it does start it seems to run on 4 cylinders but quickly gets back to normal. And also when it starts it idles extremely high. I've read up on it and i know for sure my iac or AAC valve is bad. I can't seem to locate a new one. But as for the cold start issue would that be faulty wiring on the ecu for that? Or just the iac? Or both. Mods are 255 fuel pump 25 turbo exhaust fmic
Thanks

most likely your problem is all coming from the IACV.

I would also check your coil packs.. they might be worn/cracked.

No they're fine. Everything is solid it's getting fuel/spark. Just not enough on cold starts apparently. Once it's warm It will start fine. Still idle high but start fine. Basically it's not getting the proper fuel spark and timing in order to start when it's cold and I want to know why lol. Other then the iac unless that's all it is.

have you checked your base timing? if it is really retarded it would have a hard time starting when cold.

Yes. Everything is solid. I'm just gonna buy a new iac and go from there. If I could find one. Do you know the pin number for the cold start on the ecu?

and I can't find a IACV anywhere either, so good luck finding one.

Try cleaning it first, that might be the problem and check the idle adjustment screw in the back of the valve.

here watch this video it should be the same on the RB20 i think they are interchangable but double check that.
Atleast it will show you the process anyway...

How the IAC sensor works on Rb25DET Series2 engine - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFJvNRlfh-g)

and here is a link to give you a basic idea on how to clean you IVAC

Cleaning IACV - Maxima Forums (http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generation-maxima-1995-1999/540673-cleaning-iacv.html)

Couldn't find one on the RB specifically but basically just get a bottle of carb cleaner and clean it out.

Hope this helps!

I've already tried cleaning it but I did not know about the screw I will have to check that out.

hopefully it's that simple!

Yeah hopefully. I did try the blocking off and controlling your idle with the throttle body screw. But that just got annoying.
