Last weekend was the SCCA National Tour in Houston TX. My friend Hassan and I took the 240 out to run in Street Mod. We had been to this Tour several times over the years and had done well in the past. This year Hassan won, defeating ErikHyman's Supra by .828 over two days. I took 6th out of 14. I was off my game all weekend. Erik is a tough competitor having trophied at Nationals for several years now. His Supra has around 70k invested in it. The car makes 550 horses at the wheels and 590 lbs ft of torque. So you can understand why we're happy about winning with a 210 horse 240. :D

We had a great time at the event, as usual. The Houston and Austin autocrossers are a great bunch of people. The friday night fajitas were great and the event ran as smooth as silk. Here's a link to a pic of me on course:

And here's a link to the overall gallery. Select houston national tour and day 2 to see all the photos. http://conecrazy.org/ipw-web/gallery/albums.php

We should have some info soon on a couple of sponsorship deals we're working out right now. I'll let you guys know how we do in the upcoming TLAC events as well.

Have a great race season.

Glad to see you won, your thread title led me to believe that Jay (PSI240SX) on the board won. Defeat of the Supra reminds me of my friend who has or I should say had a stock KA with GC + AGX and Kaaz 2 way (around the end). Kept beating some rich kid with an M3 and some really expensive motor swap I had never heard about.

What is SRX?

it's a new race class that is part of the SE-R cup.. They allow SR20 powered 240's with pretty much unlimited mods. You race against nx's, se-r's, and 240's. I think it's a NASA only class. It's pretty much Street Mod for SR20 powered cars on track.

a little link to get you some info.

Nice! I hope you whoop up at Nats.
Maybe I can give you two some more competition by next year.

yeah hopefully one day i can be that competitive. i think right now i have too much power for my skill level. nice to see what an SR'd 240 can do in the right hands though.

and lance, i think you will be right up there with them once you finish your buildup.

My friends are pushing me to do Nats this year :p How sweet would that be to have two 240sx's representing pretty much 2 different sides of the S- chassis at nationals?? Plus, I'd love to compete against an SR'ed 240sx with a good driver for once :x:

Word, I'm right there with you, and I can't help it. I bought my HICAS 240 to auto-x..and now i have way too much power for my own skill. Chewed up tires..here I come!

The brand is Real Racing wheels. 3 piece aluminum, 16x8, 16lbs. each. not exactly truck wheels. Might be going to something bigger soon. We'll see.

Allen - what is the back spacing on those wheels?

MovinUp-1

5" backspacing, or 1" offset (25mm)

i should be going to nationals as well... ill be in DSP though, ive still gotta find out how im gonna do at regionals first...

Well, regional competition here in Street Mod isn't that deep. I'm hoping there will be a Divisional event or National Tour/ ProSolo around here (might do the DC leg). The last event I outpaxed a few current national champions from other classes though :p

oops, i meant divisionals... there isnt much around here for DSP as well... if i crack the top 5 at divisionals, ill be going to nationals for sure. 240sx/zilvia.net meet in Topeka maybe?? :)

hmm... was just flipping through movingup-1's gallery and saw this:
http://conecrazy.org/ipw-web/gallery/albums/2K4_Hou_NT_D2/IMG_1749.sized.jpg any idea what size/ kind those wheels are?? They look like truck rims, but they look decently wide and fit pretty well...

MovinUp-1

That's one of our customers' car. The wheels are Diamond racing wheels. They're 16x8 with 4 1/2" backspacing. They don't make them in 5" backspacing. They're steel and weigh 21lbs each. But they only cost around $400 for the set shipped. We were concerned about fitment but they worked out great.

That pic is from the national tour. He's had the SR20 and Haltech in his car for a year now and put over 30,000 miles on the car. We put Cusco coilovers on it that wednesday and he competed in the tour on that saturday. And that was only his second event on race tires. He's got a steep learning curve ahead but he's very enthusiastic and has been doing well.
