They look like ball bearing, balls.

Yeah that's what it looks like but from where? Oil pump or turbo? They are pretty small

more than likely Turbo bearings

I am surprised the turbo has not shattered if these are from the turbo ...

Previous owner could have blown it then slapped in a new turbo

Since they are still in one piece and not shattered they have to be turbo bearings. My guess at least.

Turbo bearings. Been through this several times. It will spit a lot of them out before it completely shits the bed.

There are no other ball bearings in an sr20 btw. The waterpump shaft contains a set but they could never get inside the engine.

the oem turbo does not have roller bearings either, except some rare late jdm S14/a ...

Is there a chance my internals could be messed up? I haven't started the engine or anything I didnt really find metal but those little balls in my oil pan

The engine is from a s14 kouki

That's really weird... They have probably been in there a long time... Could have been from back in the day when it was still in Japan, or from the previous owner, or from the guy before that... and that... turn it a little bit with a socket... If you don't hear anything rolling around in there, or metal to metal etc, it will prolly be fine.

Journal bearing turbines FTW!!!!!!!!!!

Clean out or replace the oil pick up if you already have the pan off.

the pick up has a screen so even if it managed to get sucked up the pick up it wouldn't get in the engine

on a sidenote, I'm pretty sure some kouki s14's came with ball bearing turbo's so that could be the source

Your engine is probably fine man. Just check out the turbo. It's got to be a s14 bb or an s15 bb turbo. I would replace it regardless of what condition it looks to be in.

Replace the turbo.

Change your oil and filter.

Buy a magnetic drain plug. (I got one I think if you want it.)

Drive a couple hundred miles and change the oil and filter again.

It sucks, but a $40 oil change is a lot cheaper than a rotating assembly.
