will having no EGR affect my smog? besides visual?

should i try to reinstall the egr or do u think it'll be ok? i have a '97 240 thats now stock by the way.

Well if you dont have an egr valve installed on your 97(OBDII) i would be surprised if your check engine light hasnt come on yet. If your check engine light is on, then even a hookup CANNOT pass your smog cause the smog machine directly reads the trouble codes from your ECU. I'd say put it back on, and make sure your check engine light is off before you have it tested. Also if you reset the trouble codes, you'll have to drive your car around for a week before the car can complete the self-test(called monitors). The smog machine also reads these self tests and if more than 2 are incomplete your car will automatically fail smog. Good luck.

my service engine light isnt on.. and i didnt have it reset.. but i did have to replace my battery (and the service light wasnt on before that either)
