I was wanting to get 400 whp not hp at the crank. What turbo would do this with little to no lag. I understand that for turbos you want to pick for the horses you want but i have no idea how to pick haha(mechanically)

Oh and the engine is a s14 black top

Perhaps you should do some research on what one best suits your needs and learn how to pick one...

i have an hks gtrs for sale its a t28 and i was putting down 389 to the wheels, and it still had some more left(i was on pump gas).....that will be probably the fastest spooling turbo for that power range.....

My friend made 417WHP at 21 psi on GT2871R (S13 SR20DET). His motor was fully rebuilt and had TODA 264 Cams. And about the lag?? What lag, That thing would just go!!

GT28RS for 350whp or GT2871R for 400whp both turbos have a great spool and bolts right in.

A 2871R will NOT make 400whp. It will put down close to it tho I won't argue that you would need a built SR (head) atleast to make close to those numbers regardless of turbo.

Now I'm not saying it isn't possible I've seen it many times in this very forum people slap a 3071 on a stock sr or KA and tune with a stand alone and put down 350-450hp. But 90% of the time something in the engine fails.

But a 2871R just doesn't push enough air for 400rwhp. Key word in this statement is WHEEL hp.

60mm turbo at least. Very few people on gt2871r break 400whp with pump gas. Go straight to t3

it does not necessary need to be 400 whp around 380 would suffice and be more then enough power.

Anyone got any idea on how much the turbo i listed would get me? Because i saw a good deal on one that's practically brand new.

Sounds like you should go GT2871r with the .86 exhaust housing. That turbo runs about 500-1100ish depending used/new etc. It will make your numbers you want and still have a pretty decent spool time.

Maybe you should go do some research before spewing this crap out on Zilvia. A GT2871r will not make 400hp? WTF rock have you been hiding under?

Obviously you didn't read what I wrote just like most of Zilvia. It will not make 400rwhp which is what he is wanting. Please..... Please, re read what I posted before criticizing. Thanks.

HAHA, you know I'm being a dick. Is it even possible to spool that shit up, even with E85 at less than 6k? :D

And apparently you haven't been paying attention... There are plenty examples of people making 400Whp out there on the SR with the 2871R

before the 6266 i had a GT4094R that i was going to run but thought it was overkill for my stock head. if i had the built head i would have ran it.

I can't even imagine how stupid the drivability is with a turbo that big. I absolutely hated my damn 3582 and I had a 9k red line. Absolutely no power before 5K, kei-cars were fucking passing me at 3-4k, but when it hits. I was going sideways in 4th gear...

Ya small turbos can be handled easier but takes alps to handle a big turbo beast
Mine is a dog below 4500 then boost starts claimbing Nd OOOH SNApS hold on for dear life lol

for 400whp and decently low lag, id suggest looking into a gt2871r. i've been told by a lot of people that its a good setup for that amount of power, but if you want to go higher later, you'll probably have to replace it. I have no personal experience with it, im just giving you the info that was given to me by a few different people.

that said, i've driven an fd3s with a monster turbo and it didnt build boost until 4500 rpms and was not very much fun on the street, sure it had power, but once boost built it turned into a missile. it was also a drift car and would just be in the power most of the time.

Really think about what you're doing with this thing. My subaru legacy gt (detuned sti motor) builds boost almost instantly if i get on it which makes it a blast on the street.

A general budget would be the first thing I would get figured out.
Are you going to be doing a built motor ?
Do you want to do top mount or bottom mount turbo ?
What Tuning System are you going with ?
What is the purpose of the vehicle? Street or Track - if track Drift or Drag ?

It's a S14 Blacktop with t28 currently and has je pistons and eagle rods.
Its For daily and then Weekend warrior status.
Top mount most likely.
No idea on the tuning system haha. I was just going to go with what ever Suspicious Garage in Phoenix says. (They the top 240 people here).

Just go 3076 or precision 58 series i think its a good middle ground it will meet your standards and still leave you room to grow later or on race gas for your weekend warrior stuff.

GT4088R on 1.06 a/r...

Hahaha, full boost @ 6k rpm 4th gear down hill on the freeway on a freezing cold night!! Do it!! Hahahah

I'm running a .50 trim comp, .57 ar and i was putting down around 345rwhp on a dyno dynamics, tuned for a way different setup. I'm getting tuned for this setup @20 psi i will be putting down 370-400rwhp stock cams, stock head gasket, stock head bolts. Full oem rebuild, I'm going to throw in some tomei procam with b/c srpings n retainers and make 400rwhp on a bad day! Pump gas baby!!

P.s the top end of this turbo will kill any gt28 sr or ka on the road... i broke my 20psi auto meter boost gauge when my boost controller failed haha.
