Hi people,

I see this forum pop up all the time when I look for assistance with modifications. I bought this car as a piece of shit, with a lot of things wrong with it. Where it's at now is a am empty engine bay, and a close to empty interior, but I'll do a massive picture dump to catch you up.

Firstly, here's a modifications list:

Was about time I posted this up on here considering it be used for drifting.

I've had it for a while so a massive dump...picture dump is in order.

I've been signed up to this forum for a while now but havent visited it as often as I should have. I've had this car for a couple years now, so I'll go through it's progression with a lot of pics to bring DriftWA up to speed.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMAG0005.jpg

I purchased these Hyperzero CST's from my bro, as new. They are 17.9.5+15:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMAG0026-1.jpg

Found a CX Racing Radiator up for sale for cheap so had to purchase it. The same goes for the Thermo's:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMAG00461.jpg

I ended up purchasing a Cusco Tension Rod because the front end was extremely sloppy. When turning it felt as if the front kept going straight.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMAG0048.jpg

Picked up a new Oil Pick-up as I feared I may have damaged mine when I accidently went a little too quick down a bumpy-ass road and the sump took a beating.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_0990.jpg

Here's the Cusco Tension Rod installed, you can also see the GKTech bashplate which partially saved the engines life:

Welcome to the site.

I will approve this on the basis the list you posted is already done. On zilvia we prefer builds to be pretty far in before posting. I will monitor to see if it meets spec.

Hi, thanks. Was just waiting for approval before I threw the rest of the pics/updates/progress up. I shall continue to do so. Thanks again.

A new Water Pump and all new belts were purchased through Taark:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_0994.jpg

Replaced my ceased A/C Compressor for a better condition one. Water Pump, belts and compressor installed. Unfortunately the bearing on the A/C Tensioner was rooted.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_0997.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/FkedBearing.png

Some parts which would actually make a much greater difference with the steering were purchased. Front and Rear Whiteline Adjustable Swaybars.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1027-Copy.jpg

Picked these mint condition Aero Skirts up for a bargain. They were my first milestone in getting a full Aero Kit.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1031cropped.jpg

Test fitted:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/tfghjk.jpg

Saw a low kilometre Disco up for grabs, so I had to take it:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1048.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1046.jpg

Had some Straight Pipes custom made through a brothers mate:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1053.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1054.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1055.jpg

Finally got around to purchasing a 2 Way diff, this one being a Cusco 4.08 Ratio:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/IMG_1067.jpg

The next milestone of an Aero Kit was purchased. I guess they're not really Aero, but Type X, but you get the idea.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-09-16181104.jpg

Car was running a little hot, so picked a Nismo Thermostat up.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/NismoThermostat.jpg

But, because I'm "heavy handed" at times, I did this:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-10-05105630.jpg

I heard a crack but neglected it to be a cracked Thermostat Housing and took it as a thread slipping. Had to go to Uni to drop off an assignment, but that's when I learned of it's cracked thermostat housing and realised I couldn't make it to Uni. I had no way of getting home, so I had to drive it. Now I'm unsure if my head is warped. I'll get to that soon. Luckily I have some good mates on SilviaWA, and one of them sorted me out me a new Thermostat Housing.

Getting a 5-Stud Conversion Kit was a high priority of mine, but I kept spending money on other car parts. I called KYP up randomly one day and turns out they had a 5-Stud Conversion Kit from an S14 laying around which has 32 GTR Brakes up front, needless to say, I was not disappointed. A little bit of surface rust.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-10-20144256.jpg

Testing fitting my CST's on my brothers car as he had a similar brake setup. Clearance was good.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-10-20163257.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-10-20163348.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-10-20163518.jpg

I was having clutch problems so I purchased a braide brake line incase that was the issue. It was not.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-10-21105629.jpg

Purchased 32 GTR Rear Brakes to match the front. I was oblvious to the fact that I would need to change the rear hubs from S15 ones to 32 ones. I ended up getting some from a mate at C-Red, they came off a 32 GTR.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-03173546.jpg

With the rear brake upgrade, I had to getting some bigger rims. A fellow forum member contacted me and offered me a set of Enkei RS rims.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-04154351.jpg

Obviously with the brake change, I had to change the brake lines to some a braided set. These are S13-32 Conversion lines ordered through Cartel Aus, as was the Clutch Line. Great service.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-11123423.jpg

Front 5-Stud Installed as I hadn't purchased the 32 Rear Hubs yet.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-11192033.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-11204710.jpg

CST's installed:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-25114914.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-25161613.jpg

Picked up some Cusco Rear Toe Arms:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-11-30193732.jpg

Had to get a set of these for the front hubs as I needed to run spacers on the front for the rims to sit away from the Coilover struts so I could lower it a lot more.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-12-07210514.jpg

With the adjustable Toe Arms purchased I could install the rear end on the 5-Stud Kit. Toe's a little iffy.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-01-12180112.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-12-18212653.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2011-12-23154741.jpg

Somehow cracked the inner pad of one of the rear rotors, so I had to get another one. A lot of "important" items were purchased:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-01-25120702.jpg

Also purchased a Tomei diff and 5 Bolt Shafts from my brother who was parting out his S13. Here's a pic of it fitted:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-01-27173256.jpg

A better condition BM-44 BMC was purchased as the one that came with my car was quite rooted.

Also, in regards to the clutch problem, I beleive the slave cylinder was leaking, so I purchased a new one from Nissan and it was all dandy after that.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-01-27183014.jpg

Replaced the Air Filter as it was dirty as feck.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-01-31125640.jpg

I purchased an S14 Subframe around this time too. It came with all rear arms as well, which will make life a little easier when fitting it.

Purchased a set of Black Wheel Nuts through Cartel Aus so all my nuts would be the same all round.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-02-02102139.jpg

Made an impulse buy through GKTech and got this:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-02-03141838.jpg

Fitted. I do realise my engine bay is dirty, we'll get to that later...

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-02-03171917.jpg

I love Back To The Future movies, and that's what inspired this purchase. I also purchased an uncracked dash which had the HUD unit, so I thought it was relevant.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-02-29200132.jpg

Another item purchase from my brothers S13. From the time it was fitted I was never really able to see how much difference it made.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-03-16115849.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-03-16141805.jpg

How it sat for a while:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-03-18171519.jpg

Finally got around to chucking the spacers on and lowering the front.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/CamberComparison.jpg

Whilst under the car, I saw this little bastard didn't have a pin through it, and it was loose as a... You get the point. It was the answer to the quesion as to why my cars steering was all over the shop.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-04-15194501.jpg

Could feel my firewall flex under hard braking so I went on GKTech again and purchased this:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-05-15104923.jpg

As I was going to be using an S14 Subframe I had to change the rear housing of the diff, so I got this:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-05-25163657.jpg

Here's a test fit/comparison between the stock diff bushes and my Solid SPL Diff Bushes:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-05-25201242.jpg

Did a compression test before I took the engine out to check how it was all running.

1: 140
2: 134
3: 134
4: 133

Apparently it could be as low as it is because of sticky rings.

Started to rip shit out to get ready for ripping my engine out:

I won the last piece of my Aero Kit on Yahoo Japan. Felt good!! It's currently about 3 weeks away.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/senappi2002-img600x450-1337564116tnkhdb23251.jpg

Engine on a stand, and very, very dirty:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-05-30180859.jpg

Worn out clutch, I dislike this.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-05-30144739.jpg

A comparison between the stock steering column rubber spacer and my SPL Solid Spacer. Even moving it around with the engine out, I can feel a noticeable difference.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/SteeringBushingComparison.jpg

In order to rip the looms out, I had to take out the dash. I was getting rid of the A/C and heater it was a good oppurtunity to take them out as well.

[img]http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-07215554.jpg

That's a lot of crap.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-07215537.jpg

Ordered these Solid SPL Subframe Conversion Bushes, I'm yet to recieve them.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/SPLSSBS13C_0_1.jpg

I got these Low Mount PS Pump Brackets from Nigel Petrie, I know most of you know him.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-11181619.jpg

Test fitted:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-13163826.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-13164421.jpg

To visualise it sitting in the engine bay, here's a pic from Nigel's thread:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/DSC00354.jpg

Both fuse boxes removed from the engine bay, also notice how greasy it is.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-14205543.jpg

The inside of the Plenum, definitely needs a clean:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-14203447.jpg

It was obvious the engine bay needed a clean so that's what I did. Here's the Steering Rack before:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-20182943.jpg

The result of it being soaked in degreaser and cleaned off with a high pressuer cleaner:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-22181027.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-22181014.jpg

Recieved these in the mail the other day. Reason for purchase is because I will be ordering a PBM HMIC Kit once I get my Tax back. Not sure if I'll keep the standard latch, or install the hood latches.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-28194647.jpg

How Kit would look with the standard latch still installed:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/1254359497_2_FT4008_p1050397.jpg

Here's how the block is currently as I still need to purchase a 12mm Allen Key Socket to take the head off so it can later be checked for any warping.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-29203846.jpg

Something I drew up so I could remember which Cam Collar/Brace goes where:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-06-29221727.jpg

This is as far as I've gotten with it all. Comments would be appreciated.

Also, choosing my Cam's was the biggest pain in the ass decision of all. I've ended up choosing Tomei Poncams in order to keep the Disco as responsive as possible. These will be ordered soonish.

Got some goodies in the mail.

Pictures speak louder than words.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-03113342.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-03113631.jpg

So my mate and I tried removing the OEM bushes the other night, but failed slightly. We were able to get the rubber inserts out, but were unsuccessful with the metal sleeves.

Here's what we got done:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-04184534.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-04213203.jpg

With some assistance from Ben over at SilWA, and his mate, we were able to get the sleeves out, going partially def in the process, and we also put the offset bushes in.

Visual Pleasure:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-06154043.jpg

I'm yet to get the diff bushes out myself.

After having a good sleep in from being out on the piss last night, I decided to have another go at the diff bushes.

Here's a pic of the metal sleeves. The one on the left is the one which came out the easiest with just the use of a hammer and a chisel. The one of the right however was a fracking *rabbit*. I spent 90 minutes or thereabouts trying to chisel at it, trying anything and everything I could think of. Key word, "think". I finally remembered I had air tools. So, I went at with an air hammer and the *rabbit* came out within 2 minutes.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-08205605.jpg

It may be SCA, but it sure as hell saved the day.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-08212542.jpg

Very happy with the result. The bushes look a little battered, but they'll still perform as they should.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-08211951.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-08212023.jpg

I also picked up these R33 Handbrake cables from a mate. I was attempting to run the 32 GTR cables, but they're too much of a hassle.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-08222819.jpg

Finally got around to dropping the old subframe.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-10191644.jpg

Had to drag the subframe to the side so I could roll it out with ease.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-10192849.jpg

Something sexual about car parts.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-10193257.jpg

Test fitting of the S14 Subframe. I have to rotate the bushes a little more so it will fit up easier. The bushes sit in extremely tight, so I have to bash them out and realign them. Will be worth it in the end.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-10201405.jpg

Disassembled the rest of the subframe this arvo. Good to have the S13 Subframe out of the way.

Just a dummy up of the S14 Subframe with the S14 LCA's. I did this to check whether or not I'd have to get another Whiteline Swaybar. I do not.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-12202111-Copy.jpg

Rest of the parts out and ready to go onto the S14 Subframe.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-12203626.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-12203706.jpg

Still need to rotate the bushes a little more, also need to change the rear housing of the diff to the S14 item.

Re-test fitted the swaybar just to be 100%. So happy this is one thing I don't have to f**k around with.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-17193917.jpg

I bashed out most of the bushes again to align them up properly, that went well. Then came the fitting it up. I ran into an issue that I hadn't come across after reading multiple threads of S14 Subframe Conversions. Turns out you either have to bash the body in a little or modify the subframe. I took the quicker/better solution.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-17160250.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-17160304.jpg

I bashed it.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-17205307.jpg

Also added another tool to the collection. Here's the new jack up next to the old jack.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-17114606.jpg

The height differences, pretty noticeable ,eh?

After a busy week with work last week, I couldn't find much time to progress with my car, but I was able to get back into it today.

I was having more issues than expected with the subframe. It kept hitting into the chassis rail here:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24160505.jpg

....And here:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24160518.jpg

....And here:

So I had to smack at the body with my gimpy and all was sorted. Now I could finally get the subframe to sit flush with the body.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24160620.jpg

Now that I could confirm that it would fit up properly, it was time to put a little rust converter on some deceptive surface rust spots, I also coated it with some primer:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24191159.jpg

I also sanded back the dented in areas and sprayed them with primer just as a precautionary:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24200114.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24200133.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24200209.jpg

Doing this reminded me that in my door sill, there was some rusting going on, so I went at it with rust converter and primer as well. This should keep it under control until I get a full respray.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24205252.jpg

Lastly, whilst I was waiting for the rust converter to dry on the subframe, I installed the the R33 Handbrake Cables onto the drumbrakes:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-24200257.jpg

Received the following:

- GKTech SR20 Oil Sandwich Plate.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-25102202.jpg

- GKTech S14 Eccentric Lockout Kit (Non HICAS).

- GKTech S13 Solid Shifter Bushing

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-25102719.jpg

Once again, very happy with GKTech's quality.

Finishing coats of the black paint applied. All that's left is the clear coat. I'll apply that tomorrow.

Looks alright for a quick job:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-26171833.jpg

Also, I got around to changing the diff rear-housing. Tomei diff looks so beefy. :P

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-26152751.jpg

This is always reassuring:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-26153131.jpg

And...rear-housing bolted up just tight enough to seal it properly.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-26161738.jpg

I'm not sure what oil was in it before, but this will be going into it. I tried getting some Royal Purple at Autopro, but ended up getting this. I was told it's just as good, if not better.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-25173235.jpg

I put some oil in the diff...after it was connected to the subframe, and bolted everything else up.

Here's the finished product of the subframe:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-27154352.jpg

I got as far as this because I'm in need of two nuts. Ha, ha.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-27195300.jpg

This is where the two nuts need to go:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-27200808.jpg

Also, I took a trip down to Mandurah to see my good friend. I got these parts for a good price.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-27154239.jpg

I've gone back to stock, because that's what I want, simple.

I also installed this as well:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-27155023.jpg

The S14 Subframe is finally bolted to the car. So fucking happy with it how it looks/sits.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-29194952.jpg

Rear of the car is now lower than the front.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-29202659.jpg

Lastly, I got this after many, many, many years of wanting one, which proceeded with weeks and weeks of waiting after I won it on Yahoo Auctions.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-29152334.jpg

This is one thing which was a must have. None of that butchered shit.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-29152348.jpg

A little bit of damage. It was advertised like this, so not a surprise. Can be easily fixed.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-29152359.jpg

Hopefully better than the last persons attempts, haha.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-07-29152412.jpg

Finally got an Allen Key Socket Set so I could take the head off.

Mission accomplished (Had crap on the lens).

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-08160211.jpg

Also, I accidentally got the engine to TDC without having the marks on the chain to line up. Doesn't really matter though as the engine is getting taken apart.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-08165145.jpg

Ripped off a few more parts whilst I was at it.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-08165212.jpg

Ran out of lunch bags to put my bolts and parts in, so I stopped there. :P

Got around to dropping the front subframe to remove the engine mounts. With the amount of leverage/force I had to apply to loosen the nuts when the subframe was out, there was no way I could loosen them whilst still bolted up. While it was out, I took the opportunity to degrease the underside of it properly. Came out alright.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-09163843.jpg

Fucked engine mount/s. Passenger side is the sheared mount. The engine use to vibrate/bounce a lot when the car was being turned on/off.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-09155604.jpg

Finally managed to removed the rest of the parts from the engine bay to get prepared for respray. Need to weld a lot of holes up before it gets painted, though.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-09195529.jpg

Lastly, I've upgraded my BMC to a BM50. Out with the old, in with the new.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-09142945.jpg

Recently bought these gauges and gauge holder. Only really wanted the holder because it sits in the vent, exactly where I wanted them to be. I'll just look at getting a water temp gauge and put that in this gauge holder, with the boost gauge on an A-Pillar holder.

Really happy with it all.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-16201326.jpg

So, some parts popped up on SilWA that I was eventually going to get, so I got them now. Both new items.

Firstly, ARP Main Studs 202-5402:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-25181932.jpg

Lastly, Nismo Pilot Roller Bearing:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-08-25182018.jpg

So, I got these SplitFire Coil Packs for a decent price from my bro. In excellent condition. I wasn't planning on getting after market coil packs, but I think I may have had a fucked one, so for the piece of mind, I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

Thanks mate.

I do love the quality parts. Better off spending more for quality, than buying cheap crap that you can't trust.

Cash flow is pretty good, so updates should be flowing like the Mississippi.

Very cool build I like it!

Why use 33 brake cables instead of 32? Why is the 32 a pain?

Keep it up!

Edit : what kinda jack is that, shit is awesome

Hahaha, it just seemed fitting. :p

The 33 handbrake cables connect straight up from the drum to the handbrake, where as the 32 handbrake cables only go about 2/3's of the distance to reach the handbrake. They then have another extension cable which then reaches the handbrake. This extension piece is also the same end piece the s13/33 handbrake has, which enables it to be able to connect up to the handbrake.

I hope that makes sense. Some visual-aids would make it a lot easier, but the cables are now fitted, and I can't remember where the 32 cables are.

I get asked so often about the jack. It's a Kincrome 3000kg Jack. Got it ordered through my mates work, and got a substantial amount off the price. It gets the car so high in the air, I can finally use my jack stands to their highest potential.

Thanks. :)

Went and picked up my Tomei Rocker Arm Stoppers from the post office, as I missed the delivery, like always. Got them through Tengoku Imports for a nice price.

They're much thicker/heavier than I thought they would be. I'll install these when I put my engine back together.

I'm trying to make it as legit as possible. No messing about here. :p I searched long and hard for that Aero, was totally worth the 4-6 week wait, haha.

Regarding the skirts, I had no idea about the term "Chuki"... TIL.

I did know that there were skirts that sloped downwards near the wheel archers a lot more than the other ones. I thought these were the ones with the larger slope. Can you show me a comparison of the Chuki and Aero Skirts? Would genuinely like to see the difference. :)

Sorry to disappoint, but I gave all that away for free.. otherwise I would have gladly given it to you.

Yeah it's coming along nice, but with the Skirts (not talking about Type-X) there's S13 SILVIA "Aero" Skirts & 180sx "Chuki" (Middle Gen) Skirts & with Chuki skirts they slopped & Silvia skirts didnt slop they had more of a flat bottom. I have Aero skirts check them out on my build & its cool on the Aspirator Tube just thought i'd ask, thanks though

I knew about the sloping and straight skirts, but most blokes I know consider them to be Aero Skirts. Good enough for me anyway, especially considering their condition.

hey mate,

ive fixed my two aero bumpers in Sydney, using some selleys urethane glue from bunnings.
The stuff is good, because the aero bumpers are urethane and the glue is quite flexable, and sticks amazingly to urethane. Scuff it a bit to the bare plastic and she'l be right.

Also, if you have any issues with your digital cluster and or HUD, there is this guy down in South Australia I believe? He is awesome at what he does.

best of luck with the build :)

I will probably pay someone to fix the bumper as one of the bits that needs fixing is a little bit of a pain in the ass, but it's good to know that I can attack the problem myself.

Also, thanks a lot heap! That site may be very handy indeed. Was told it works, but that's anyones guess.

Essentially, yes.

Make sure you file down any little metal tags that may have come about in the bushing sleeves. They will fuck your shit up at any chance possible. :p

Beating things with a hammer was a little discerning, just make sure you sand it down and paint it. Don't really want under-body rust, I'm sure.

If you can get your hands on an S14 R200 Complete Diff, that would be a lot better, as the 2 mounting points towards the tail shaft require bushings, polyurethane/solid, it will just make the fitment a little nicer. I'm still unsure if not having the complete S14 R200 Diff that my diff will sit on the piss or not. Although, it seemed to be alright. Only time will tell.

Decided to look like I was doing something on my car, so I started hacking up the battery tray.

This is what it looked like before:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-09-29164234.jpg

Here's what it looked like after. I'm going to chop out the rest of it and have Luke weld in some fresh metal. The outline is roughly what I'll be cutting out. I need to get some more Dremel blades so I can cut at the tighter spots.

So, after getting my HIMC, I could finally do some real work on the car.

Here's the rad support before all the grinding/cutting went underway.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-10-03143946_zps0553da03.jpg

Considering I haven't really used an angle grinder much, I took my sweet ass time. This is the result:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-10-03202440_zps115fb9a8.jpg

I've since grinded away at the edges a bit more and deburred it all. Looks a lot cleaner.

Had some issues bolting the cooler up. For some reason the tabs weren't long enough to reach the holes in the rad support. My solution was to extend the rad support holes inwards and the intercooler holes outwards. Seemed to have worked.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-10-03175049_zpsc49042f9.jpg

Here's the cooler mounted up. The top bolts weren't fitted at this point.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-10-03182106_zps1945f3ed.jpg

Here's a pic from behind. I had the top bolts sorted in this pic. The cooler felt extremely secure, it'll be even better too, once I bolt up the bonnet latch support and the two other rad supports.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-10-03191038_zps033a9962.jpg

Just a dummy fitting of the radiator with the cooler still mounted, just so I could see how much direct airflow I'd get to it. The answer is, A LOT. Niiiiice!! :D

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-10-03191235_zpsa5f8616b.jpg

Since I mastered the art of the angle grinder, I went at the remaining of the battery tray with it.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/2012-10-03202910_zpsee2e5384.jpg

Very happy with today's efforts. Next thing to order, disregarding pistons and the rest, will be an RX7 Oil Cooler (Pictured below). This will sit underneath the intercooler nicely. I need to get it so I can see if the lines will go where I want them too, once that's done, the engine bay can be painted.

Rex Kelway Tubs should arrive next week. Also, CP Pistons/ Manley Rods/ Tomei FPR and Mazworx Full Length Head Studs have been payed for, probably get them in a week or two.

Will need to order my Nismo Main Bearings some time soon, as well.

I started sanding the engine bay with some 120g, but I still need to take the steering column out so I can sand the drivers side area properly.

Also, I think I won't be keeping P/S. Have a mate who is a fitter and turner who said he's willing to do another mates rack, so I'll try and see if I can get mine sorted as well. No P/S is an aesthetic choice...as was the tubs. :wiggle:

No idea really. I think the main idea is to remove the seals and smash some grease in there.

I need to do some research on the matter, but a manual rack would satisfy me greatly.

Will keep you posted on the matter. :)

You strip the rack down and grind some slits in to the plungers inside the rack, fill it up with grese and hay presto it works on the same princaple as a manual steering rack.

Darren
11-20-2012, 10:35 AM
I was wondering more for the lock to lock ratio. The P/S rack would still be unruley in a parking lot with it's ratio, but if you could find a quicker ratio manual rack, one that's made for that duty, it'd be a little nicer when you're going slow.... that's all :)

GKTech S13/180SX SR20DET Eccentric Throttle Wheel:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20121207_144253.jpg

Those unfamiliar with the product; "The S13/180sx SR20DET eccentric (ie. off-center) throttle wheel makes the travel of the throttle cable down low in the rev range longer and gives you more control, and makes the travel up high shorter for instant throttle response. Great for drift or even general street use. Seriously, one of the best cheap mods money can buy."

I cleaned the rear housing up a bit, and then sprayed the ceramic coating on it. The ceramic spray I used wasn't the best, not to mention the housing was rusting beforehand, so it's flaked in some spots.

Before:

After:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20121209_145356.jpg

The finish isn't too bad. It's a low mount turbo so I'm not really too fussed with it.

I also got around to finishing off the sanding in the engine bay and applying the etch.

Nagged my mate today to do some tub stuff. Pretty much what has been done so far is chop out the wheel arch some more, and get the drivers side to the point where the next step will be tacking the tub on.

This is how it looked once the rest of the crap was cut out. The decision was made to leave some metal on there and make some supports out of them. It's just going to make it easier to fit it all up, was definitely a good decision.

The strip of metal under the guard, which generally eats tyres from the car being quite low, was trimmed at points for the tubs, and the rest was bashed upwards. Now, if the tyre were to hit up undertheguard, it'll be a little nicer on the tyre.

My mate will have a go at sorting out the passenger side later this week. :)

Had some spare time today, so figured I'd get started on the passenger side and save my mate some work.

Firstly, I had to attempt to panel beat the rad support section where the previous owner fucked it. Don't have any before pics from today, but there's enough that have been taken that show the damage. Quite happy with my attempts.

My poor attempts at getting the tub to sit in nicely, although I didn't get it to the point that my mate did yesterday, a fair effort was still made.

The drivers side tub was welded in last week, I was just kind of lazy getting some pics up. Obviously needs some bog, and a few little bits touched up, but other than that, it's all good!

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130109_210345_zps330601c4.jpg

Decided to hack at the passeneger side some more, which has been such a *rabbit* compared to the drivers side. The fitment was getting close, but not close enough, until I remembered the extrusion on the passenger wheel arch, where the P/S resevoir is usually mounted, was one of the many things I had to grind.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130109_184958_zpsf7547396.jpg

With that sorted, I could look at what else was stopping it from sitting naturally in place. I ended up having to grind the corners of the tub where it sits near the rad support. I also had to grind the tub where it meets the wheel arch a little more, it now sits happily.

Prepped for welding.

Had to take the GReddy sump off today because I sold it to a mate, took it as a good excuse to bolt up the Tomei sump as I didn't really want to leave the engine opened up for long.

With the GReddy sump ripped off, figured I should take the chance and show a size comparison between the GReddy and the Tomei sumps, pretty noticeable. Although, the GReddy is bigger, I chose the Tomei because it's not cast and won't crack when it cops a whack when out on the track.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_181034_zpsf0356f4e.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_181156_zps81c1cb44.jpg

Found some discerning bits of metal in the sump. I'm thinking the bits would be from the main bearings wearing in. Would this be correct?

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_174603_zpsb38a66b9.jpg

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_174742_zpsa7f80402.jpg

After having the sump off, and sitting on my arse for a good while scraping off the remains of the old sealant, I remembered I had a Type X Oil Pick-up, that I had purchased from a mate at least 2 years ago, an figured now's a better time then ever to install it.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_222526_zpsb10451fa.jpg

Old one (obviously) on the left. Pretty noticeable opening size difference.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_224319_zpsf9dd91e5.jpg

Type X Oil Pick-up installed.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_225920_zps58251ed3.jpg

The bracketing on the new oil pick-up was a little different to the old one. The old one mounts adjacent to the pick-up, and the new one has it mount opposite to the pick-up, further along the crankshaft. I was a little confused, but Nissan had it sorted and had a mounting point already there ready to go.

Was a little cunt to get to, although, I was successful. :)

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_225956_zpsc0090023.jpg

The biggest difference in regards to mounting up the GReddy and Tomei sumps would be the 4 centre-ish bolts. The GReddy sump has provisions to bolt it up from directly underneath, whereas the Tomei sump has to have studs put into the engine blocks threads.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130123_222938_zps68cc2e3c.jpg

Tomei sump installed. The sealant is still curing, so I'll tighten the bolts up more in the morning.

Also, a decision has been made to rip the sump off again and tig up the baffles a little more. I've been told of someone having problems of the bafflestacks snappng and oil surging. No harm fixing it up now, than waiting for something to fuck up later.

Got around to grinding away all the coating underneath the tubs/wheel arches today, so I can finally put the new stone chip coating on. Took a good while, and I got pretty damn dusty whilst doing so. I've got it to the point where it's been degresed and sprayed in the appropriate spots with Penetrol to reduce any of the surface rusting that had occured.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130221_210000_zps7f23b79b.jpg

The Penetrol was also sprayed on top of the tubs as well, but beforehand, I grinded down the welds so bogging over them would be a little easier, and would make for a nicer/smoother finish.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130221_213122_zpsc2a5e819.jpg

This was all on the drivers side, as it's probably better to do one side at a time.

The stone chip coating will be applied tomorrow, which would've given the Penetrol enough time for it to do its thing.

After I knocked off work earlier today, it gave me a chance to finish up my efforts on the driver side wheel arch.

It took me a good hour slowly masking up the area that I was about to spray the Anti-Gravel all over. Considering the stuff is quite heavy duty, I really didn't want any overspray. This is what I ended up with:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130222_145625_zpsd5ee494f.jpg

Was quite nervous about the initial spray, as I haven't done this kind of stuff before. Turned out to be pretty easy, although I did get caried away and didn't realise how much of the stuff I had actually used. You'll notice a blotchy spot right in the middle, that's where I was attemtping to cover welds. It would've looked a lot better if I hadn't ran out of the juice. Still quite pleased with my efforts, but I'm quite confident that the passenger side will look even better once done.

Also, looks like my choice of an ORC 409 Super Single Clutch is a no go, because it can't handle the power I'm expecting, so looks like I'm going to have to purchase a twin plate clutch. :p

Nothing against twin plate clutches, just the fact that I'll probably blow my SR box up, will be the downside.

I must admit, the bog job is a bit of a bodge job, but in all honesty, it's better than the factories attempt at applying seam sealer neatly. The heater and A/C holes still need to be welded up, but it's not too difficult to sand back the metal for welding.

Personally, i like the look of the raw welds painted, but what you've done here doesn't look bad at all man, and when it's all painted with all the gear in there, it'll be unnoticeable.

Keep up the good work!

Don't get me wrong, I love the raw look, but the welds werent the most appealing, my mate who did them agreed. Also, bogging over them made it look a lot more like the tubs were meant to be, and will potentially go unnoticed by the piggy's.

Once the engine bay is painted, other progress should be strong, just taking advantage of my week off uni.

Had my mate come around tonight and fill my holes... ;)

Holes filled, and engine bay getting closer to being complete. I still have a few items that I ordered a while ago which are still being made up. So the sooner they come, the better, as modifications have to be made to the engine bay for fitment.

Filled holes:

The Tomei pan does not need holes in the trap-door because there is room on the far side for oil to flow when the door is closed.

So, 1 day sort of turned into 2/3. Considering I'm back at uni next week and will be away for the weekend, I figured I should finish up the recently welded holes.

Grinded down and cleaned up the welds so that they would be flush with the firewall to make bogging them a hell-of-a-lot easier.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130405_154732_zps3921f1b1.jpg

With the grinding done, I hit them with a few rounds of bog. I fucking hate bog, takes so much time to get it right.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130405_220245_zps6ae4d8fd.jpg

With the bog having been touched up multiple times, I got it looking half decent and hit it with a few coats of etch.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130405_222328_zps091f679a.jpg

Although you can still see the dimples where the holes use to be, you will never notice it once the engine/turbo is all bolted in. I'm pretty happy with the result, and how the engine bay looks as a whole.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130405_222426_zps720c281c.jpg

Considering this metal was all bare, I didn't really want to leave it like that, as it could potentially rust, and cause a lot more of a problem than it's worth. So, I roughed it all up a little, and semi-taped it up.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130405_192501_zpsfb7c49af.jpg

The result. After taking the photo, I realised that the primer sprayed off everywhere else, but you'll never see it, and for peace of mind, I know it won't rust.

Test fitting it in the engine bay, I want to keep it partially out of view. So either in these two positions. If it goes on the firewall, it will be the easiest, but I don't know how much I like it there. Only problem with having it on the wheel arch will mean I'll have to make some little adapters to get it to mount to the arch.

Today was somewhat of a progressive one. I say somewhat, because I haven't touched the car in months, so drilling a hole is considered a lot of work.

Main objective was to start sorting out the Chase Bays goodies.

I started with the easiest thing and drilled the holes for the bulkhead fittings to sit through.

Drivers side:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130701_183244_zps5bea69ee.jpg

Passenger side:

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh207/25jacob25/20130701_183145_zpseb728c74.jpg

I was toying with the placement for the bulk head fitting for the BB Eliminator, because I wasn't aware that the RHD kit came with a soft line instead of the typical hard line. Here are some placement ideas, but I think I'm just going to try mirror the design of the hard line and get Enzed or someone to make one up for me.

Something, something, laziness, something, life, something.

This is barely an update.

One of the hardest parts so far with the Chase Bays Brake Line Kit would be flaring the hardline. That's not to say it's hard, but getting the right tool is. Luckily for me, I was able to borrow one from an Antilag member so I didn't have to fork out the $250.00 required just to flare one line and never to use it again, well not for a long time.

Pictures aren't amazing, but the lines are a lot cleaner than they appear.

Hardline flared to 37° :

http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/t652/jacobgleeson25/20130712_175740_zpsb7704103.jpg

Fitting fitted up to it:

http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/t652/jacobgleeson25/20130712_180024_zps42029003.jpg

All that's left for this part of the install to be complete will be for me to drill a hole into the fire wall for the fitting to sit through it as it was intended.

http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/t652/jacobgleeson25/20130914_165544_zpsd6785281.jpg

The conversion kit that I'll be getting will be the ETS Z32 Gearbox to SR20 Adapter Kit, which is marginally cheaper than the Alpha Omega Kit. If Nigel's had no problems with his kit, I don't see myself having an issue either.

Made an effort yesterday to get the car back into a rolling state. I scored some free OEM suspension a few weeks ago so I can do just that. It may not be a massive leap in progress but it's put the car into a much more accessible manor. I'll be looking to install the engine soon, too, so I can start looking at clearances for things...and I just want to see how the turbo sits in the bay. :D

The mess from underneath and around the car:

http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/t652/jacobgleeson25/20130926_100753_zps8fc325f5.jpg

http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/t652/jacobgleeson25/20130926_100622_zps3f3de05c.jpg

The bog on the tubs still need touching up, but that'll be fixed in time. I'm focusing more on the driveline aspect of the car at the moment, and I still need to drill more holes everywhere, so the bay staying in etch will work out perfectly.

After Nigel Petrie has decided to not make his conversion kit any more, I've had to do a bit of research as to which one will be best for me. I looked at the Mazworx, but I decided against it because of the shifter position, and the AO kit just didn't do it for me, so this is the list that I've come to conclusion with:

http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/t652/jacobgleeson25/Z32ConversionPartsList_zps717e6974.jpg

I was initially getting the kit without the driveshaft because it could've just been easier and cheaper to get one made up here, but after luck would have it, a mate happened to have the driveshaft from the kit that I'm getting, fucking score!

I went and picked it up today:

Besides the shifter position with the Mazworks kit, it also requires some machining of the Z32 trans bell housing so i want to stay away from making permanent changes to the trans in case of having to resell, or w/e...

Please go into some detail about the kit if you can. Fitment, quality, etc...

Thanks, and as usual, looking good!

As soon as I get the kit, I'll post it detail how it all went.

That's exactly it, I'm not a fan of making permanent changes on the trans.

Nah, no new updates, sadly. Building a house, so deposits had to be paid, and my daily (180SX) shot a rod so I'm almost done with rebuilding a donor engine, which will then be sold and I'll be on the prowl for an M35 daily.

Progress on this will happen later in the year. :)
