when is it gonna be up and running? which parts still need to be installed?Well, as soon as Heavy Throttle sends back my rewired harness which is like 2-3 weeks from yesterday, I will actually fire it up. I still need to actually drop the redtop in and install the rest of the parts on my list that haven't been labeled (installed) yet. Tonight I'm going to try to clean up the engine bay a little bit so Thursday we can drop it in. All I can say is, Jonathan is the "Silvia Master", hehe.

So one day after the swap I'll get around to converting the whole front-end.

Please make sure you paint your engine bay before you drop your new motor in. It's so dissapointing seeing immaculate engines in a shit hole of an engine bay.

If you can't paint it, spend some serious time in there degreasing, scrubbing, and degreasing some more. Get in those tight spaces, you'll thank yourself later when you have your SWEET enging sitting pretty in a squeaky clean engine bay!!! ;)

so far everything has gone very smooth for the swap...just waiting on a few misc parts that was holding us back. On thursday we plan on dropping in the SR and then hooking up all of the accessories such as Power steering, cooling and the FMIC.We still have to do the fuel pump(which I HATE).Once we get the harness back I have good faith that this will be a strong running SR.

Who cares, its not a show car and hes not trying to win a beauty contest.

If the motor runs well and reliably.. who cares how dirty the engine bay is? It's gonna get dirty anyways. :P

What sucks is I noticed that my Enjuku Racing HKS SSQV Hotpipe didn't line up with the piping of my fmic, I have about 2 weeks to find out what we're going to do, we were thinking maybe we could cut the hole a little bit bigger towards the rear and try to bend the ic piping back to meet the hotpipe. We'll find out next Tuesday.

looks like the enjuku unit may have been designed with thet stock SMIC in mind.

Are you able to angle the IC piping (ic side) towards the firewall a little bit more? If so, you might be able to use some somewhat flexible samco hosiery/piping...
Did you hook up the heater lines and stuff, or did you decide to get rid of it altogether?
Looking good so far!

Looking good so far!Yea, we were thinking of angling it a little bit more towards the firewall and cut the factory hole a little bit bigger and see if it lines up, if we don't find another solution by Tuesday, then we might go with that. I'm actually posting in the tech forum if anyone else has this problem. I used the heater hoses that Heavy Throttle supplied in their EZ Install Kit. Everything is actually looking really clean.

Hehe, who needs an engie stand when you have spare tire lying around. :) I used some generic Advance Auto Parts engine degreaser in a spray can, let it soak in the engine bay for about 15 minutes and then sprayed everything with a garden hose and dried everything with terry towels. I then used some more terry towels with some Simple Green degreaser to get the leftover crap. Came out ok, there were some parts that seemed to just be discolored.

What're you doing with your wiring?I went ahead and sent my harnesses out to Yuri at Heavy Throttle. I should get them back in like 2 weeks. So I finally got my harness back from Yury last Friday, who did a perfect job on it, I had to work out a few bugs such as timing, rough idle, and discharged batteries from several cranks, then I went for my 1st ride in it today. I really went soft on the gas for my 10 mile test drive, I began the 500 mile SPEC Stage 3 clutch break-in. It was so tempting to run it hard but I never let it see past 4K rpms. HKS SSQV BOV sounds really sweet, I didn't expect the stuttered venting sound, I was expecting a high pitched whistle sound, but I guess maybe thats at full-boost. Anyway, Nismo motor mounts are VERY solid and it feels like the motor is directly attached to the chassis. Almost stalling out was very very rough. I have to work out a way for the cooling fans to not blow the cigarette lighter fuse it is attached to, or think of another source for hookup. But all in all, its been a long progress, well worth it, and I give my thanks to Johnathan for all of his help. He definetely knows his shit! As for parts, Id like to thanks Phase2, Heavy Throttle, Enjuku, and my team TSF at www.thespeedfactor.com.

Thats a crazy A$$ BOV sound, never head anything like that before.. Definitly DifferentYea it has a stuttered sound at low boost, but at higher boost it sounds like the usual high pitched whistle. In the clip, I was letting off the gas and then quickly getting back on it and I was noticing it would make the stuttered sound and then slightly whistle when I get back on the gas. The last rev is how it is supposed to sound when i would just let off the gas completely.

The swap look great. Very clean - you took your time and did things right. A couple of Questions though...

Do you think the stuttering BOV sound might be compressor surge?

If you have the help of a guy that has done 11 SR swaps whats with the wiring harness service? I did mine with zero SR swaping experience.

Its tough to, but you can. Buy a front clip and they usually come with everything you need. I know my supplier can do a front clip + replacement parts (like if your clip has a trashed rad, they'll give you a new used one) and an SR fuel pump and the like. I wouldnt try it for less than $4000.

PS: Jonathan did my swap too..now I just gotta fix my plug thing.

yah you deffinitely need to reconsider. unless u dont care bout doin it right, there were a lot of things he didnt have to get but were well worth it, ie. pan-runs risk of not bumping his out right and choking motor, ic-could use stock side mount but who wants to, clutch-could have risked his being bad and having to take motor out and dealing w that, mounts- could have kept his but im sure that the engine would be all over the place. moral of the story is to do it right costs money, oh and btw looks pretty good. wish my engine was that clean.

At 1st I thought that it might be compressor surge but from listening to other guy's HKS SSQV bov sounds, its normal at lower boost. At 10 psi, my bov sounds like a whistle. RIGHT-CLICK, SAVE TARGET AS (http://benji.deltr.com/05-13-04VMP.MPG) As for the wiring, I didn't want to be cheap trying to do it myself, so I'd rather pay someone who knows what they're doing with an S13>S14 wiring so I can have one less headache down the road if I have to troubleshoot.
