Here is a little compilation of my build thread and what my car has seen over its time with me, im 20 and have self taught everything i know about cars, hours of reading forums and all kinds of diy's. When i first bought the car it was a built supercharged ka and was a great reliable car, needed some wiring and few things fixed here and there, i was laid off at the time and didnt have very much money to work on it so it stayed this way for quite some time, as work picked up my build began.

quick shot of how the car looked
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_9696.png
im not into the whole murderd out look so i had to break up the black alittle bit, bought a steamer and took off the window tint. still not good enough, new wheels, z32 brakes?? yes! 18x9.5 +15 all around for those questioning
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2786.jpg
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2642.jpg
all stainless/braided lines for brakes, clutch, catch can, and power steering
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_8372.jpg
now after this i was pretty satisfied with how the build was going but really wasnt getting enough out of the supercharger kit so i wanted to turbo the car, shortly after the clutch goes out and im forced to drop 700 in a new clutch and flywheel, nismo motor and tranny mounts and a few other things so at this point i figured i had this much into it i might as well go ka-t.
tore out ac!

cut off the resonator on my hks hi power and bashed out my catco hi flow cat so it was straight through
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2630.jpg
sold my navan front to my buddy jb so i could have alittle more cash to work with on my build
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_7944.jpg
after many different calculations and talking to james evans at je performance and jeff rica at cip i decided my best bet would be to go with an sr swap, for what it would cost me to build a turbo kit and the headaches it would bring i could just buy a swap and instal. so tear down began!
went to harbor freight and bought a engine hoist!

im sure by this time many of you are thinking it couldnt possibly be cheaper buying a whole new motor and swapping everything, but after parting out my entire built ka setup i made all but 3500 so that gave me a big head start on building the sr setup.
i looked around at a couple different import companys and prices were alright, planned on a redtop but looked around on craigslist and found this clean s13 sr20 blacktop that was still on the crate from when he ordered it from tigerjapan with reciepts, so i drove out to maryland to pick it up. got an amazing deal and ended up getting a complete gasket/seal kit for the motor for free.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_1331.jpg
as time went on i hated my monster truck stance and even though i was planning on doing motor only, i tore off my d spec/spring setup and opted for these;)

i was still paying off school debts at the time so i gave a big chunk of my ka money to catch up on payments so i was broke for awhile again. by next week i orderd some money small things i had money for that i knew id be needing
aem wideband, circuit sports drift knob, circuit sports solid shifter bushing, had the momo wheel from before

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_1900.jpg
as money started rolling in again i started ordering more parts
oem sr water pump, oem cam angle sensor, circuit sports aluminum cas cover, isis pulley kit, isis o2 housing, isis downpipe, isis fmic kit
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2775.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_8163.jpg
then i started thinking what else id need to finish the build and i am fairly good with wiring but i figured it would be much easier and cleaner if i bought the wiring specialties engine and trans harness rather than splicing everything . worth every single penny without any doubt! those guys at WS are awesome!
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_9638.jpg
wanted to clean up the tranny alittle bit so i sat it up on the tire and wanted to rtv my shifter plate
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2479.jpg
then came reassembly!
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_3038.jpg
had some issues with the front mount being so big that i didnt think i could get my crash beam back on, i cut and cut and cut and by the time i was done it barely even had anything worth keep on it structurally so i went to the home depot and bought some 1" box tubing, refitting everything and began to weld in place.
heres a quit test fit of everything after i repainted it, this front mount is huge it sticks out below my bumper 2 inches almost, kinda scares me so i may be making a custom aluminum skid plate to protect the bottom of fmic on bumpy roads. also welded the little piece that holds grill and everything onto my crash beam so its all one solid piece, takes 5 mins to take off the front end of car so i can access whatever i need
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_5027.jpg
i had a couple pieces of intake pipe laying around but my main goal was to run a recirc bov and being that i wanted to build a solid legit car i opted for apexi intake. 300 is quite a stab in the side for 1' of aluminum piping haha. jeff rica from cip got back to me that non were available anywhere and it would be forever till i got it from japan but later that day he found me one in some warehouse and got it shipped to me. this and many other parts jeff pulled through to get me, this build wouldnt be possible without them guys over at CIP(240sxmotoring)
i also had a really hard time finding the z32 n62 maf but a month later picked one off of here and have it now!
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_4522.jpg
while all this parts buying was going on i gave the motor to our race mechanic to instal the gasket/seal kit, arp head studs and a few other pieces.
Last but not least on my list was finding an ecu since the motor didnt come with one, so i searched EVERYWHERE and finally found one from a guy local believe it or not and i had originally planned on sending it to nistune to get their chip and the local guy not only had a stock oem e5 but he had a nistune chipped e5 for an amazing price so i picked that up in a heart beat!
http://www.nistune.com/img/pages/equipment/products/type3-02-large.jpg
Before all this i had been using all my dads tools and was tired of hearing him complain about it so got a great deal on blackfriday;)
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2928.jpg
still have a few parts rolling in before i can get the motor back, waiting for timing chain kit and i should be ready to go, but heres some parts that just showed up today

i left my starter off the tranny when i put the motor in because i wanted to have it tested first and of course that was junk like my oem alternator.. so ordered a new one.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/C6072647-93E1-4E5F-AA33-902E760E3B17.jpg
i went to put my exhaust back on and the downpipe is hitting on my floor board the entire way, emailed isis and they said they have had a few customers have problems with the same thing but their product is identically to any other name brand part. so im gunna have to get a piece welded in to extend it down further. isis dp also doesnt come with a bung so i got a stainless bung welded in as weld for my wideband.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/67DCEBCC-2431-4C48-9F93-7E705FBAA9BE.jpg
before i had a fuse block between my battery and starter and i didnt like that it was this way because if i was out somewhere and the fuse blew im pretty much a sitting duck so i found a breaker at the auto parts store and got that wired in.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/634BD23B-E866-4704-9BDB-DC3596555018.jpg
after fitting up my isis ic piping it doesnt fit, i got the s14 kit and the bends are alittle off so i had to order some silicone couplers to finish that up, got couplers and it still wasnt even close so i had to order a new cold pipe from enjuku and luckily enough they had isis cold pipes for 25 bucks haha my lucky day!! since i have a synapse bov i had to get the flange welded into the pipe and took it to a local fab shop to have it tig welded
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/A7679940-BA3D-4E20-BFEC-1B6601CB6DBB.jpg
heres it installed on car, i also had them fab a custom bov recirc pipe that i will show later on here
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/B93D293A-D466-415F-9CCF-BC876659ADCB.jpg
by this time i was thinking my build was almost done, as i started ordering all my amsoil oil i thought about the rear seal in the tranny that was leaking when i got it so i tore the driveshaft off again and got everything ready for the new seal.
after i did that i remembered the previous owner saying about the subframe bushings being bad so i took a quick glance and noticed that he had put subframe spacers over the oem rubber bushing to keep them from blowing out and it wasnt working anymore and pushed past the aluminum spacer, i found a subframe on craigslist with solid sikky bushing so i went and picked that up, had some surface rust and since the car doesnt have a bit of rust i wanted to keep it that way so i threw it into the sand blaster and got it all off and ready for paint
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/A484B000-A677-4B9D-8BF5-1D5DFD20EF8E.jpg
decided i might as well do diff bushings at the same time so i burnt them out quick haha, ordered spl solid diff bushings
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/60E38D95-4E94-41D3-97AD-F1E80E795E27.jpg

i wanted to go with all new suspension when i put it back in so ordered some circuit sports sway bar ends links for front and rear

then wanted to get my rear out to swap everything over onto the new subframe
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/5262F3EB-4DC0-4D09-BC92-0D153A8388C2.jpg
heres everything waiting to go on, i ordered a circuit sports suspension arm package too but the toe rods are on back order till mid april
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/4CA99FFA-A0B1-44E4-AF9D-6BE5A295469B.jpg
got a strut bar as well, and cleaning up little last minute pieces that need done with the engine bay
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/AEB24879-B07B-47A0-91C2-10091C6596F4.jpg
after the paint on the subframe was a fail i took it for powder coat and got the diff back together with all new amsoil fluids in diff and tranny
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2538.jpg
meanwhile i was messing around with my daily, previous owner had alot of stainless parts on it but chrome really isnt my taste, so plasti dipped the wheels and all of the hood acc.

while i was still waiting on suspension arms i needed to replace the front up by the fuse box because previous owner had a big ugly hole there that had some rust on it so i cut out all the rust and replaced with sheet metal. hole for ic piping is traced out

ive been waiting almost a year now since i got the car to get a se lip and now i finally broke down and bought one, got a hell of a deal bnib from nissan! just need to get my front bump and lip painted and should be awesome... ive spent almost a month trouble shooting my timing, had 3 or 4 people stumped but finally with some zilvia help, she smoothed out idle and set base timing. my awesome gf washed the car for me today so its looking clean again haha. after taking it for the first test drive i made a big list of everything i wanted to change suspension wise and what not. pic of my car and her coupe
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/A0886DB1-7AE2-4D9E-B763-8563937AD9DB.jpg
just wanted to double check everything was running smoothly so i bought an aem oil pressure gauge and greddy sandwich. made a little heater vent gauge pod thing
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_8344.jpg
after the first test drive my exhaust drug ass really bad, so i put my coils up half an inch and then chopped the cat on both sides and mitred the flanges so that it would raise the whole exhaust up into the tunnel.

ever since i bought the car like a year ago the front wheel bearings have been shot and wheel wobbled so i figured i better get some new ones. oem nissan hub assembly is expensive but well worth it, had them on in like 15 mins haha
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/428CE6E5-90F4-463A-B48C-790231EB6C77.jpg
after the first 2 fuse boxes i attempted to make work i trashed both ideas, aluminum overflow can was too small and not functional, steel one i fab'd up was just too easy to rust and rattle even with coats of paint, so after looking everywhere online and in stores i found the solution, etrailer had brake controller boxes for trailers for 7 bucks so i picked one up and it fit perfect, no rattles, no rust, clean engine bay, done!

well thats about it for now, stay tuned for more progress later on, i plan on a cage, new seats, and 2871r in the future, but for now, its summer and im hitting the corners! thanks for viewing zilvia!

what s/c kit was on the car and how much power was it making?

ka24der.org kit, it was their prototype model, this was ryan klatts old car.. the kit has made like 250whp 250tq on 10lbs, theres a video on youtube of some other guys car running it but you have to run meth or e85 to keep it cool since there is no way of intercooling it because it bolts directly to the intake manifold, or so i was told by them. it wasnt very suitable at all for daily driving because if you ran over like 4 lbs of boost it would start getting hot and thats where you needed different fuel.. as anoying as it was it was crazy torquey and you had boost as soon as your foot hit the pedal, theres no turbo lag, its push and gone, if somebody could make a intercooled supercharger kit id gladly go to it, the problem is that it almost needs to be mounted on the opposite side of the engine bay like a turbo so ic piping can be ran around and into the throttle body but then again you have so much heat soak coming off the headers the air will most likely still be very hot by the time it hits your intake manifold

heres a pic of the kit all in pieces before i sold it

the belts also didnt line up the greatest and i had problems with that, a serp belt snapped/jumped off on me twice and when i put the new one on its so hard to get it on you have to use a screw driver to pry it on, the next size bigger belt slips, belt has to be crazy tight so the s/c doesnt spin on it. you need a q45 maf and tb as well

Nice build man, keep it up.

It's been awhile since I've updated, been working alot and figuring out what all I need to change this winter.

Picked up some tein inner and outer tie rods and oem dust boots.

Started on the interior today and got it all gutted and ready for cage, welded my hydro ebrake in. Went with the Isis ebrake with wilwood cylinder and stainless lines, maverick dual caliper bracket, mustang rotors and some new pads.

Been working hard lately haven't had much time to post. Bought a new daily like a month ago, had some rust so did some body work, pulled out the rear end, new rear end, rallitek swaybars, borla style headers and Stromung catback for some boxer rumble, Wrx wheels. Clean simple rally DD beater haha snow monster awesome gas mileage 5spd. Fucking deer runs in front of me 3 weeks after I finish it smh... So that's being worked on. Jeeps being worked on stupid carbs haha. It's never ending.

thanks man! hoping its not too raspy, if so ill get a stainless resonator and weld it in but we'll see.

got the rest of the car prepped for the cage today, still have to get sound deadening off where plates go but thats an easy fix

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_1149.jpg

tore trunk all apart and put sound deadening in here to try to keep straight pipe noise down some in the cab, i get head aches easy:madfawk:

also the battery box was off on the side of the trunk before, not sure if it makes a bit of differnce but i centered my weight, and no that strap isnt holding the box on there lol, just the lid

Well after like 3 months i finally get things straightened out with fortune auto and sent my rears back to get them 2 inches longer because it barely had enough thread to hold the bottom mounts on..

some parts are rolling in, picked up some rear valences, still gotta get them painted yet.

and now to the goodies=]

A well built KA-t is gonna produce more torque than an sr. Which is what puts you back in your seat. SR's are capable of being built to a higher horsepower than KA-t's though. Really depends on the application you want it for. You can build a KA-t and keep it at low boost and still have lots of fun with it.

Yeah that's true I did notice somewhat of a torque decrease when I went from the built ka to my sr but honestly i think the "torque feeling" that I felt wasn't from the ka it was from the supercharger, I've riden in regular ka before and they are nothing worth talking about, if I could have ran my ka-s practically I prolly would have stuck with it but the way it was setup there was literally no way possible to intercool it, the sc sits directly under the intake manifold and blows straight into the head, not saying ka24der has a bad design but I think it was a bad design from Nissan to start, even on the xterra it sits directly on top of motor and blows down. Maybe if you could get a procharger mounted in there it would be something worth talking about because then you could run an intercooler and keep heat soak to a minimum. By the time your brain told your foot to hit the gas, you went from -20 vac to full boost and spinning the tire, even the t25 felt laggy compared to the sc...

It is what it is though, I'm on sr platform now so there's no turning back, the technology and parts plethora for the sr far oversees the ka..

Eventually once I get bored of this turbo setup ill prolly go straight to rb, 2jz, or v8.... Each has its own advantage but would be fun just to be able to do it

well shortly after i got my new daily i smacked a deer and ruined the front end so i had to rebuild that stupid thing sending me over budget for what it was worth(what else is new haha) and then go figure the struts blow out, and i swore id never ever buy raceland coils, but they were a hell of alot cheaper then gr2 and eibach springs.... so whatever lol they arent actually that bad for 400 bucks and a daily lol. wasnt paying 200 for a hood repaint, plasti? yupp fuck it

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0244_zps4eedcbf7.jpg

last time i went to tune the car i didnt have anyway of logging off the aem uego wideband, so made a serial to usb with data cable and ground... my plan is to drill holes in the back of the glove box and run those little bolts though the back and then put a nut on them so thats all thats in my glove box is the usb cable and then the solder wont get snapped off, should look nice and clean.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a367/twistreeds/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0247_zpsb0443cb9.jpg

never had a chance to get a catch can on last summer, wanted something specifically for an s14 but couldnt ever seem to find one that i liked, saw the replaceable rad overflow/catch can, but it was stupid expensive at the time and wasnt really what i wanted so i finally found this cusco one on frsport... and since all my other gauges were aem i finally bought the boost as well, i like keeping everything in the engine bay and only running wires in off of a sensor compared to vac lines and bullshit.
