it looks to me like he got the red translucent tailight spray, then got some auto parts store truck style tailights (the 3" rings) and put those in there

Well they are modified s13 tails. All S13 tails are the same cept kouki tails.

And hmm looks bad, its just a bad mix of kouki tails and regular tails. Does that affect the lights at all? Anyways to each his own.

Yeh, looks a little rough....I guess its a cool idea, but like black_s13 said it looks like they are pointing in 2 different positions, plus I am kind of curious to see how close you "mirrored" them on the other side.

Hehe, i didnt provide much info...

This taillight is my "rough copy" (ie spare taillight) i've only done 1 so far.

The lense on the left was merely attached to the outside of the tail light (I made sure to heat the lense to curve with the tail light), where the one on the right, i cut a 5" hole and sunk the lense into the tail light.

Trust me that they'll look a lot better when i actually do the real thing.

When i initially painted these ones, the transparent red "orange pealed" in a few spots so i put like 5 thick coats to try and get rid of that and thats why they look so dark.

Heres a few more pics, kinda explains my learning curve in making them...

My car is a work in progress right now, dont mind the paint/dirt/scratches.

to get rid of the holes after i attached the tail light, i poured some epoxy in the head of the screw and sprayed the lense with clear, you cant really see the fasteners once you do that.

i like it, it might not be immaculate looking, but your not going to get immaculate for under 10 bucks... i think your lights look a lot more sporty than the boring old plane jane tail lights... keep working with this idea of creating a way to have stylish tail lights for cheep rather than dumping a ridiculous amount of cash into a couple pieces of plastic and you will have something you could really profit from. fyi... this isnt the finished product... i did one lense and was goin to throw the tail light in the garbage, but i figured id do the other one and take pics just for kicks...

i wont put anything that ghetto on my car...

the reason it looks like such shit would be because i cracked the light and took a chuck out of the plastic, i filled in the crack with silicon and painted it red... lol...

one of the lenses also has 5 extra layers of transparent red on it...

like i said, i wont put ugly shit on my car, id be better off with plain red.... ill make them look good, just you wait and see.

the first pic is of the light when i wanted to throw it out, the 2nd lense i added was alright, but it didnt match the color of the rest of the light... like i said, its a "rough copy" with about 10 layers of red on it, its all oranged pealed and posted the pics to give you an idea of what i was doing..

well I want to see a "finished copy" ...that might be something I'd do....lol....that one on the left is good but only one circle,if you could do something with when it lights up? Anyway,your sitting on a goldmine if you can make it work right....but the rough copy was kinda rough :\

That transparent red spray paint is going to look like shit give or take three weeks. This is because of the exposure the paint will have to the elements (heat, cold, air and water...or something like that :p). I'm surprised no one has opened up the housing and painted the lense red.

yeah thats definitely a civic with the z3 fenders I think. not 100% sure though but thats what the wheelwell looks like. IMO it looks decent when its not lit up but when it is I wouldn't rock it. and yes the paint fades quite quick

if anything, i would take measurements of the real deal the kouki's cause the circular light is far out from each other. at least, that's what i see from the pictures. the glossy stuff.. it aint happenin. like someone said earlier, crack the taillight assembly apart, paint from inside, and then start makin some progress...

Hehe, sold the exhaust... i currently have nothing from the head back.. so yeah....


As for the red paint.... my tails have looked like this from 6 months now... and havent gotten any worse.... keep in mind im in canada too, so they've seen well below freezing....

I figure if i want the lights to illuminate properly, ill take a 5" hole saw and go right through the entire tail light, then insert 2 entire housings... should work... that would also give me the opportunity to mount them pointing straight back...
