Why would you think a 2j would have different gas consumption in a 240 rather than in the chassis it originally came out of?

gas mileage is gonna suck because youre always gonna be too heavy on the throttle.

you're getting trolled.... it's not 8-10 mpg. i would guess somewhere in the mid to high 20s combined if its a NA 2j. turbo would be maybe low 20s, i have no clue.

You want to put a 2JZ in your car and your worry about the gas mileage?

Really bro?

just a suggestion...but yea, i know the 8-10 was BS...but i left it alone...its not that important to me, just asked out of curiosity. Its good to do calculations early...For the record, im not planning to do a 2j...its just something i was thinking about.

I most likely wouldnt go with the 2jz...but its something to consider and has been done by a few...I wanted to do something different not everyday swaps but nothing that hasnt been done before...i dont know anything about 2js, so i asked, you can close the thread...i dont know why its still here lol

I was thinking weight would make a difference. The lighter car would probably make worse gas mileage.

Hello all, I wanted to ask a quick question. I was planning to do a 2jz in a chuki body style 240(something different other than the usual SR and RB swaps)...However, with work and school i was curious as to how good the gas mileage would be a with a 2j....How much worse will it be than having a SR or stock KA? I know people say the 2j is a gas guzzler...but im not an expert myself to say so. Thanks.

Seriously?:lockd::lockd::lockd:

I know im probably of lesser knowledge...but point out my fault...but the way i see it...a bigger heavier engine in a lighter car without proper balancing the weight would make your gas mileage worse. You know of the ratio of power to weight. but yea, lock her up...im waiting.

My post was stupid correct?? :-) as in a complete waste of your time reading, agree?? If you do, which based on your reply it seems like you do. Then my point was made.

Now you understand how everyone on this board probably feels after coming across this
Thread.

Your planning on doing a swap, for the purpose of making power. Reliability, a newer engine, something turbo etc. all points that can be argued but the priority is power.

The reason why you didn't get a straight answer from anyone is because economically if your doing a swap gas mileage is almost always the least of your worries.

To the point where IF your even serious enough to make a thread about it, then your better off purchasing a Economical daily driver, a Honda ruckus, or a hybrid.

Not a swapped 240. Not swapped with an sr, vq, 2jz, rb etc.

A newer (any economy car, think enterprise rental fleet) will have what you need.

This thread is absurd, is what it boils down to. And the reason why you probably couldn't find an answer, if you searched first is because of the absurdness of the question.

Don't take any of this personally, it's not meant in any way shape or form as an attack against you. I'm just letting you know the truth.

Again, good luck with your quest if you still decide on pursuing your swap.

P.s. I'm surprised no one has Made a Florida comment yet.

who me? because i didnt ask what i wanted right out? or because everyone is jumping my case for no reason and over the stupidest question ever? I did not come on here with bad intentions, im not harming anyone or wasting your time...you chose to jump my case. all i needed was a simple answer like "its not worth doing if you worry about the gas mileage" or "maybe a swap isnt for you"

anyways, im done. go on and go crazy posting about how stupid i am.

so how exactly does a lighter car get less mpgs compared to a heavier car? LOL

rumsawatti
06-12-2012, 10:16 PM
Beats me...i just thought it would...i thought since the power and weight the bigger engine has the more strain it would have on the lighter car...maybe i got it backwards...but like i said i dont know much about this stuff, i joined the forum to learn..

The 2jzge should get you about mid 20's if your not stomping the throttle all day. Once you start upgrading things for power then fuel economy goes out the window.

Ex....my future setup with 6766 turbo and 1200cc injectors using my fuel delivery setup should be around 9-12 mpg when I am driving around and having fun on E85. Again, fuel economy will really depend on numerous factors.

Hope this gives you an idea. FYI, fuel economy should be of little concern when swapping out a 4 cylinder for a V8 or an inline 6. 99.9% of the time you will lose some mpg effeciency.

I should be done with my swap in about 3 weeks (2jzge) and I can chime in on exactly how my mpg is doing in my S14 cruising the shitty NY streets.
