View Full Version : KA24DE Looking for two gaskets + EGR fact/opinions + another IDLE issue...

Been searching google and various online sites to purchase these two gaskets individually. (not the entire set). Tried Rock Auto, FRSport, Redline Automotive, westcovinaparts.....[EDIT*] Was hoping someone would know where to get these* WITHOUT having to Pay ridiculous shipping charges to 96818. YES I know shipping to HI is inevitable, but I want to make sure I'm getting the best deal out there.

Also, considering making the gaskets if nothing good comes up.*
Local auto part store don't have the gaskets individually*

It's the the gaskets shown in the middle row. The one on the left is the IACV gasket and the one on the right is the EGR valve gasket going BETWEEN the valve and INTAKE MANIFOLD. (92 KA24DE)

And to make this thread worthwhile, i would like to hear discussions regarding keeping or removing the EGR system. Because if i cant find the gasket, im gonna block it off. I mean blocking off is inevitable since i plan on going KA-T in the distant future, but in terms of keeping it for the time being i keep reading mixed facts/opinions about the pros and cons of removing this item. I live in Hawaii, so emissions testing doing happen here.

What im really interested in knowing (based off of anyones personal experiences) is:

1. How bad, if any, does it affect gas mileage? (WOT and cruising)

and

2. Does it have a significant effect on engine temps/idle?

Reason being is that i have a leak around the EGR valve (right gasket). I have this annoying bog and slightly jumpy idle issue, and so far have cleaned the maf, IACV, dialed in the TPS, replaced spark plugs and changed the CTS. Only the swapped IACV made a slight difference bringing my idle from 900-950 to around 800 (warm). When i spray brake cleaning around the EGR valve, the motor bogs down, indicating i have a leak.

Maybe this sounds stupid, but did you actually ever try adjusting your IACV? (you stated you swapped in a different IACV and that brought the idle down to 800 RPM's, but how can you be sure that it wasn't because that one had the screw adjusted in more? Unless you had them both maxed out and one gave you a lower idle)

And I'm not sure how hot an EGR valve gets, but you can try using some copper RTV. I've used it on my external wastegate housing where the dump pipe bolts up to the wastegate itself, and I've used some on my downpipe and it's never melted off or burned away.

Yeah I had already adjusted the original IACV all the way in. Sat at 850 ish.

Now the swapped IACV without adjustment idles at 800-850, so maybe I can adjust it to get to 700-750.

But the second problem that still persists is when I press in the clutch after a small highway pull an even coming to a stop, the engine will drop below 500 sometimes will even kill itself. I know alot of people have experienced the same problems. When rolling to a stop my idle would be at 750 but upon a complete stop, the RPM returns to 850.

As far as the EGR valve goes, I've already tried using high temp copper gasket maker on my gf's KA. For anyone who has taken apart the IM, they know what a bitch getting the EGR to line up with the manifold is, some of the gasket maker rubbed off while trying to position it correctly. So I don't feel like dealing with gasket maker and would rather just find te gasket, or depending on what I want to do about the EGR, just block it off.

I have no emissions in mine and I average about 25 miles a gallon.

Any reason you can't just buy some gasket paper from Advanced Auto and make your own? That's what I did with my IACV. The first time I removed it you could barely tell there had been a gasket there. Very slight vac leak afterwards, until I installed my gasket.

As far as the EGR, if you're blocking it off by screwing a plate to it, you'll need a gasket anyway. Again, just make your own.

I have my EGR still and I get 22mpg. I drive an auto though, 70mph daily. I drive it hard too. Gotta keep up with traffic.

I know you can get the EGR Valve gasket at autozone... Ordered one on Sunday. I don't see why they wouldn't have the IACV.

Well, where I live, we only got a NAPA, O'reilley, CarQuest, Parts Plus. neither of these places have the gaskets individually. I was also considering just making my own gaskets. I'd rather buy them than have to make them. But if I can't find a place that sells them with a reasonable shipping cost, then I'll just make them.

Thanks though.

Unfortunately autozone doesn't exist in Hawaii. Sucks for me. Thanks though.

Yes i have already seen those. Sorry I didn't mention in my first post that living in Hawaii makes shipping cost more then the product itself sometimes. and although the second link comes to around 9 shipped, i really cant stand the thought of paying nearly triple the cost of the product on just shipping. Its a piece of paper. So I was hoping someone would have other sites that didn't come up on google.

and as for that last link and comment...

1992 NISSAN 240SX Parts - My Nissan Parts Store Online Nissan Parts and Nissan Accessories (http://www.mynissanpartstore.com/parts/1992/NISSAN/240SX/?siteid=214102&vehicleid=1209013&section=EMISSION%20SYSTEM&group=EMISSION%20SYSTEM&subgroup=EMISSION%20SYSTEM&component=EGR%20valve%20gasket)

Are you sure you know how to read and comprehend? I did a little reading and my post states the EGR gasket going between the INTAKE MANIFOLD and the EGR VALVE. It also says the EGR gasket is on second row and to the right.

Click on ur link and view the picture. Now tell me if it looks anything like what I had asked for. No. No it does not.

This here however does:

you failed...

You tried though. Thanks
