I picked up an 89 hatch with intentions of tracking it. Im looking at possile swaps right now, not sure what to go with. I need something that is reliable enough to take the drive to and from yet still be able to take a beating. Any suggestions?

B16A, go 12-1 compression, 40lbs of boost and a 500 shot of NOS. This swap will last you 50 years of daily/track driving if you change the oil every 30,000 miles.

Ive done a build before, but thanks for the useless comment. My previous build was a ka24de-t. Wasnt as reliable as i thought it was going to be.

Power goal is between 400-450.
Type of tracking would be drifting but still retain the ability to daily drive it.

Hey man Im a local and wondering are you looking for boosted or NA power, have you drifted before(not just doughnuts) and at 400plus you'll be going through new tires fast, can you handle 400 in tires per practice event. You'll need alot of seat time at first, Id find a sr20 swap and use that, its more than enough to get started and wont kill tires first run out, plus fast install not alot of down time and easy parts.

Id like an easy na set up for reliability purposes, ive taken my old 240 out to driftwater twice, so no not to much seat time.

NA horsepower junkyard hunting is decently easy in our area, tons of 1UZs and VH45s at the local picknpull that can be had at 300 or less, trans and adapters are easy to come by. Aftermarket isn't the best for making more hp so a ls series later will likely be the best bet unless you got fabbing skill/tools, later if your trying to make it on track this season..if you got bank to drop LS that bastard with a sikky kit and smile.

Ive been lookin into vh45 swaps more and more, i know theres a guy in our area that has one in a coupe. The picknpull in va beach has 2 of them
