whats going on everyone. getting ready to start my s14 build. she already all torn apart. about 6 months ago i dropped a valve so i started the tear down. had to put the project on hold due to school and work. im not new to the car scene but i am fairly new to the nissan family so all advice and help is welcome. heres some pics
when i first got her

the tear down begins

i have more pics that ill upload a bit later.
im not going crazy on the build just a affordable street car to have some fun in. im sticking with the ka, plan on doing an oem rebuild, plan on going boost later down the road nothing crazy just want to put down some decent numbers.

so far this is want my list is looking like:
oem piston and rods (only thing i can find is npr)
timing chain kit
oil pump
bore the block, hot tanked blah blah
having the head rebuilt to oem spec
clevite rod and main bearings
magnecore wires
ngk plugs
arp studs
not sure if i should use a metel hg since im not running forged internals
new clutch im thinking spec ( still undecided)

thats what the parts list is looking like so far im sure itll grow as the build goes on lol :naughtyd:

alright now after doing a bit more research im thinking of getting some forged pistons and running them on stock rods along with a metal hg, just so she can handle a bit more booost and i dont really trust the npr pistons lol.. thoughts ?

I'm not really sure this qualifies as a build thread since it doesn't seem like you've made much process yet

keep up the progress..I too want to rebuild my ka and add boost. but I am undecided if i should just do an sr swap.

a build has to start somewhere lol.. thank bro, i was thinking sr as well but ka just seem like the better way to go. got my income tax money coming with in the next week so part will be getting order soon. just doing alot of prep work. (cleaning engine bay, stripping everything down blah blah)

I can grab a sr20det black top for like 2600.. After doing r&r it'll cost me a little over 3grand I'm thinking.. And at least I'll b boosted

01-31-2012, 06:48 AM
my local sr importer has them for $1950 with everything black top s14. I also found a complete KA engine, tranny and ecu on CL for $225. thing is this car is my DD and cant afford for it to be down too long..so whatever I do has to be done and ready to go in a few days tops..

good luck with your decisions..

01-31-2012, 06:50 AM
Which importer are you talking about ?

01-31-2012, 06:54 AM
JDM orlando..

01-31-2012, 06:56 AM
Heard anything about jdm south in Mia ?

01-31-2012, 06:57 AM
I heard good things but too far and too expensive for me..

01-31-2012, 07:01 AM
Yeah i feel you there a couple hundred bucks more than most places but at least I don't h e to pay shipping lol

02-05-2012, 06:19 PM
so jdm south has a couple sr20's for pretty fair prices. so im going on tuesday to check em out.. still undecided whether to get a red top or a s14 top notch.. i guess ill see which ones in better condition. im going to start the prep work on the engine bay tomorrow after work. should be a real busy week

02-05-2012, 06:20 PM
i need to find a good vendor to get all my stuff for the sr20.. any suggestions ?

02-05-2012, 10:06 PM
All engine vendors in central florida suck.

look at all the sponsors on here. I always look out in the group buy and advertisers specials/announcements. enjuku, phase2, import image, heavy throttle ( HAHA) ravspec, jspec, 9k racing, frsport. etc and you'll be taken care of. peace

02-06-2012, 05:05 AM
yeah enjuku looks pretty fair. pics will be up today
