View Full Version : S14 sr crank same as s13 sr?

Are the cranks the same for the s14 sr20det vtc and the redtop s13 sr20dets? I have a s14 sr vtc version and it has a bad crank just wondering if I can swap in a redtop crank and of course make sure all the clearences and bs are right but I know how sometimes some hole might be different or something. Thanks. Oh and BTW i searched and the search engine kept failing.

I used a fwd crank on my S14 Sr. I also used the oil pump/cover but that was very epic.

Roller Rocker crankshafts 2000+ G20 from the FWD SR20DE are lighter but only have 4 counter weights instead of 8, and the SR20VE has a 4 counter weight crank as well. All SR20 crankshafts have the same dimensions for the rods, and mains, the only difference is the counter weights, and also the oil pump collars are different, you have to use RWD oil pump collar with RWD Crank pulley, and FWD with FWD. Can't mix and match. Also VE Collar vs DE collars are different as well, just the total length, the design is all the same.

Gtir has wider journals on one of the bearing surfaces. Not sure if it's rods or mains.

Last time I checked the FWD SR crank shared the same P/N as the RWD.
As well as having 8 counter weights.

Davidna2fi is correct. US models (possibly not all models?) have the 4 counter weights. 8 counter weights is nearly a must for the higher rpm range.

The 99-2001 SR20DEs were roller rocker valvetrain where the rocker arms actually had roller bearings that rode on the came lobes. The cams were different due to having the roller design, and the crankshaft was different as well. For some reason people think lighter is better, but in fact, heavier is better for high RPM. The ITR crankshaft is the heaviest of all Honda B series cranks, and they spun it to over 11K on some engines. But any SR from 1990-1998 were are 8 counterweight crankshafts, which are the ones you want.
