Hey guys me and my friend both bought S14 SR20DET motors. His was a 1996 and mine is a 1998. I've been trying to find write ups or any kind of info on the swap but haven't really found much. I was wondering if anyone has done it, knows a website with info, or has anything that can help me. Wiring diagrams would be great.

My friend already threw his motor in, everything is running pretty good but I think he had his friend do the wiring for him. I'm wondering if the 1996 and 1998 motors have the same wiring? I was told that it is not (some plugs are pinned differently) but the colors are the same. Can anyone confirm this? Also any tips would be nice. I've already done 3-4 swaps in my day, including KA into S13, S13 SR into S13, S13 SR into S14, but never this. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

btw I have an 89 fb. My friend's S13 is a 92 and I believe there are a few plugs on the chassis harness that are different?

Basically only the wiring is different between my swap and the usual redtop into S13 swap right?

Im actually finishing up swapping a 95' (OBDI) KA into an 92' as we speak

So far the motors in, it turns, but I cant get the motor to fire up. I havent gone about reinstalling the Distr. yet, im guess its way off. Ive tried searching, but am still confused if I line up by notches on sprockets or what...

S13 KA / S14 KA FSMs are key for the wiring, I dont have either :( Not yet. With those you could wire it base on schematic for sure

I only have S14 / S15 SR FSM's

I swapped my 92 Ka motor out when it died and swapped with a 95 ka. Everything is the exact same except the intake manifold. The new one had more emissions BS on it so i just switched the intake manifolds and she turned right over good as new.

Thats whats odd, the 95 KA i have, has 1 less boost / vacuum sensor then the old one. Other then that, every wire is identical.

Opps sorry guys I meant S14 SR20DET into S13 chassis. BTW my friend swapped a 95 KA into his 92. I believe everything was plug and play just like a stock 92 motor. I'll double check.

i think there were some later in the year 95 ka's that are OBDII and not OBDI... that would explain the discrepency. could be wrong ^ ^
