I'm in the process of putting a manual in my 89 Non-ABS car. I picked up what was said to be a NON-ABS manual drive shaft (both pieces). The front section appears to be an inch too short. The car is still up on jack stands.
Did I get the wrong drive shaft?

I think the reason it looks like its sticking out is cus you dont have the dust cover on it.

:P

Key word is "think"... someone interject if I'm wrong.

And if it comes down to it I have a NON-ABS Manual Driveshaft to sell you.. its "JDM" :D

I would also agree with kazuo about the dust shield, but it does look like it may be just a little too short. Double check your lengths and make sure the guy you got it off of wasn't blowing smoke up your rear. I also have 2 guarnteed non abs D shafts, one JDM and the other DSM. Let us know what ya find out. Good luck,
Jim

So there's supposed to be some kind of dust boot between the tranny tail and the driveshaft?

Yea. Black collar lookin thingy made out of plastic. Hangs off end of tranny, over driveshaft.

Well, it looks like that's all that I was missing: the metal dust cover.
Thanks for the replies!

Ok i know this is about a little over a week old, but is it neccessary to have the dust covers on? i ask this because i just noticed that my drive shaft dont have it either.

I would suggest it. It's about $10 at the dealer and doesn't take too long to put on.

What you have looks to be the correct one! you do not want it to botton out as there would be no space for the engine and trans to move!!!!!!!!! Mack@Mckinney Motorsports
