installed a new clutch slave cylinder on my s14 sr20 swap in my s13 coupe, i bled about a whole big bottle of fluid through it and do not see any more bubbles coming out, the pedal feels stiff at the bottom and when i take my hand off of it, it comes up half way and stops and i have to pop it up the rest of the way, what could be causing this, is the the actual pedal or something with the hydraulic system?

i have a video to show you what it is doing too:

all help is appreciated

Slave could be jammed..have somone press on the pedal while you go under the car and look at the slave to make sure it releases and depresses completely..if the slave is good..then your throw out bearing is jammed..

Adjust the clutch pedal there's a screw to make it engage better

i have that screw all the way forward now and the pedal comes up to that but still it is pretty soft and the slave is going in and out and the motor is able to turn over with the clutch pushed in too

Do you still have the dampner loop in place? If you do, take that shit off, might still have air in that thing. Also, you said you adjusted the pedal push rod, still doesnt look like it's enough. Almost look like its still engaging/disengaging pretty low.

i had a similar problem , it ended up being my pedal assembly where spring atatches to pedal was almost sheered off causing pedal to not return all the way. start with basics remove master cylinder pin and c if pedal has any binding and check spring portion. if all items mentioned above been looked at or taken care of , power bleeder is the best way to remove air from system. good luck hope some of this helps

more than likely, your master cylinder is bad. it was working fine before you replaced the slave. what happened was you cleaned the fluid that was holding all the dirt that was helping the seals in the slave and master. once the dirt is gone, the seals in the master stop working. hydraulic pressure is just passing thru the seals in the master. replace the master and bleed again.

the video was before i adjusted the bolt on the pedal, and if the seal in the master was bad would it be leaking

Adjust the shaft...looks like its disengaging almost all the way down to the floor. Get it atleast half way up, maybe more. Should fix your issue. Double check the U-piece that the shaft threads thru, that thing has a tendency to bend/break. It could be tweaked enough and causing it to bind when coming back up. Lastly, spray the spring on the pedal with some lithuim grease, might just need to be lubed up a bit.

I had this exact problem and solved it by doing exactly what he said. Anytime you are replacing the clutch it is a good idea to go ahead and replace the throw out bearing. Since you are already right there anyways might as well do it.
