annoying exhaust noise!

this may be a pretty noobie question but i was putting on my new exhaust and i noticed the was a metal piece on the chassis that was bolted up to my test pipe and mid pipe i want to say. When i was putting everything together i forgot where it went??? It was kind of a pain to bolt back in between the 2 pipes and the same for trying to bolt it up behind the test pipe towards the mid pipe side, so i left it hanging and now it hits the pipe and its loud and annoying. Im just wondering if i can remove it completely since it looks likes it only there so the exhaust doesnt shake or something??? Also its an s14

the bolts are perfect im just not sure where exactly that bracket goes... is it even necessary?

my exhaust was hitting a bolt and was rattling really bad, i just grinded down the bolt and problem solved

im guessing your talking about the bracket that runs from the trans mount to exhaust, you can remove that, no problems will arise.
