I have a quick question...Is that a ka? If so I thought that stock timing was at the notch on the right side? (I'm pretty new at this so sorry if this is a stupid question)

This is mechanical timing on an sr, it's done at TDC. You take the colored links put it on the dots. It's really simple when you're installing a chain new. But lets say you want to verify after you've already been running the engine. You set the engine to TDC and take pictures, then post them in a thread on Zilvia.net and people tell you what they've learned from reading the FSM and Install guides on the interwebs. You know, like counting roller and links and lining up keyway's at 10&12 oclock. that stuff.
