View Full Version : RB Sounds like a WRX

Recently my RB25DET has been acting up. It starts up fine, no problem there. Once the car has been driven for 10-15min it starts to sound like a WRX. It also shakes more than usually and has lost power. When I shift to the next gear it usually back fires at a low RPM. I checked my spark plugs and they are good, coils seem to be fine, and fuel pressure is at 43psi.

IDK what the problem could be. Has anyone experienced this problem before? Car was running fine and all of a sudden it started doing this. Help would be appreciated.

how would I be able to confirm this?

check spark and fuel. pull the coils 1 at a time and check if it's firing with a screwdriver or something metal with a plastic handle so you don't die. for injectors, you can unplug them and see if it changes idle/dies etc. if you find the problem you can swap injectors to see if that fix's it with another cylinder etc.

With the car running, start unplugging one coilpack at a time. When you unplug a coilpack, the engine should run crappier. Do this for every cylinder. Which ever cylinder doesn't change when you unplug the coilpack is your shitty cylinder.

when the cars running also unclip injector by injector to see if any of them are dead.
check ur spark plugs and coilpacks

sounds like one of ur coilpacks is about to take a poo, or us loose.

Solved the problem. It was a coil pack #6 that was toasted...Problem was solved a while back but never got around to update this. Once again thanks everyone....She sounds beautiful again :ughd:
