How do i know when i need new tie rods?

er..... :confused: you look at them to see if you see any damage, aka bent, or the rubber is worn out on the ends.

jack up the car and look for shimmy in the front wheels (with the steering locked of course). if it shimmies back and forth look at the tie rod and see if its pivoting on the tie rod end.
