Hey guys I am about to purchase my self 2 OMP racing seats. The guy has sent me pictures of the seats and stickers on the seats. I just wanted to get a conformation from anyone saying that these seats are expired as the two dates are punched out. Now i need to have FIA approved seats next year for drifting so it is critical that I get the right seats.
Here are some pictures the guy has given me.

so if those are the expiration dates of the seat I have done some reading around in the Rule book for the FIA, and found this.

15.6.22 Seat Back Support
A seatback support must be made to hold the seat from going back in the event of a crash. A plate should be used to distribute the load. No bolts, corners, or sharp objects should be placed in such a manner that could lead to a possible puncture of the driver in a high impact crash. Proper design and installation is crucial to safety and it is recommended that the driver employ the services of a professional race car builder for this, as well as all other vehicle safety items. An exception may be made for those seats homologated to, and mounted in accordance with, FIA 8855-1999 standards. Those seats that qualify for the aforementioned exception must conform to the entire FIA 8855-1999 set of regulations. This includes a mandatory seat replacement, or use of a seatback brace, for any seat more than five (5) years old. Please reference the FIA
regulations. Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (http://www.fia.com/)

So what I get from reading that is, if these expire this yeah then if I were to put a back brace on the seat they would work correct?

Thanks for any information it will really help me out!

no, its saying if the seats expire your buying new seats that arent expired, and your still putting in the brace since its mandatory. The seat back support has to be there no matter what.

You can get them inspected and get 2 more years out of them. But your better off spending the money on new stuff thats guaranteed safe. Why risk your life on saving $50.

**edit** look at this site for more information on FIA rules

Buying used seats that haven't expired is pretty slim. Just buy new ones that way you aren't constantly having to deal with buying/selling.

so these seats will be expiring at the end of the 2012 year correct? And where would you take your seats to get "re-safetied" ?
