I recently bought some Dorman S13 front lower control arms with the intention of swapping in some S14 Moog lower ball joints. I pushed the dorman ball joints out and was going to press the Moog ball joint in. when I went to put the ball joint in it just slipped right in without any pressing. Its not completely loose or anything but I wouldn't say it fits snug. I measured the ball joints and they measure 1.625", while the moog measures 1.615 and the ball joint hole measures 1.614 of so. anyone ever have this type of problem? im guessing ill have to get new control arms from a different company....?

wrong. the od for both s13 and s14 ball joints should be the same.
i dunno what dorman is, but perhaps their specs do not match oem nissan specs, while moog specs DO match oem nissan specs.
i always use moog parts whenever i need an oem replacement and i've never had an issue. i've put s14 ball joints in s13 arms, s13 ball joints in s14 arms, all with moog parts and never seen that issue.

but what about the flcas that you can purchase from any local automotive store like the beck/arnley or masterpro flca. can i trust that they are OEM spec.

why bother?
get a set of oem ones at the junkyard
and swap in moog balljoints
it's not rocket science

Isn't it cheaper just to buy new ones?

Example:
Phase2 sells OEM S13 LCA's with new ball joints for $109.
Quoc @ Driftspeed told me that new LCA's were "about $100" with new ball joint and bushings.

S13 front ball joints are $65 each at FRSport and $52 each at Summit. That doesn't include the effort and time to press in the new ball joints or a new bushing.

Am I missing something? Why not just get brand new ones?
