Hey guys, just traded my Toyota Levin for an s14 w/ SR!
The bitch idles like crap, something I am able to improve simply by wiggling the MAF plug.

I ripped off all the electrical tape in the area to find a very poor wiring job. Before everything is rewired I wanted to make sure that a few questions were answered.

I spent an hour searching and found out a few things, but for the most part the threads I have found related to Maf swaps etc...

Please excuse my lingo up here, I suck at wiring and even wiring diagrams confuse me.

So! What we are looking at is:
On te=he harness side of things I have a single black and white wire and a large grey wire which holds a blue wire, a pink wire, and a non plastic wrapped wire.

Here!

So:
Black/white goes to black/white (Power wire)?
pink goes to white (MAF signal)?
Blue goes to black (ground)?
Oh and that not wrapped wire is wrapped around the pink and blue wires at the top of the pic.
There is also a black wire coming off the blue/black connection that goes nowhere! As will be demonstrated in the next pic.

So, before I just redo the wiring better than it is now, i would like to know:
1. Can I leave that one wire wrapped around pink and blue at the top?
2. What the hell is that black wire doing going off into nothingness? the other end of it was electrical taped so it wouldn't ground out anywhere, but otherwise just hanging. What is its purpose/ can i remove it.

Here are the other pics, thanks guys!!

Not sure which harness you're using but those don't look like the maf wires. They typically have those colors below

White
Black
Black/White Stripe

You have it incorrect. Blue to White. Pink to Black. And B/W to B/W.

The frizzy wire around the pink and blue wire is a shield and is grounded to the chassis, so the signal isn't affected as the wire makes it way back to the ECM. Just cover it up. No need to extend it those last five inches.

Get rid of that black wire hanging off the side.
