please and thanksfirst off you need to be sure what lights you are refering to. Brake lights? or running lights? Running light light up in rear and up front also. Brake light , well thats self explanatory. If its brakes check brake switch first (pedal switch).

I just recently fixed my friends running/tail lights , he rides low and rubbed the harness coming out of firewall under driver side fender. He basically stripped insulation off causing a cross short , his running/tail lights were ON all the time.... Hope this helps..

Look on your brake pedal right around the steering column. You'll see a switch that has a little plunger sticking through a hole in a bracket coming off your pedal. There is supposed to be a rubber stopper in that hole that depresses the plunger of the switch when your pedal is up.

In short, look for the switch about 8-10" up your brake pedal. Go to the Nissan dealership and get a new stopper, they're like $1-1.50. I'd recommend getting one for your clutch pedal at the same time as it's probably not far off.

My neighbor was telling me his friend sold a clean-running 240 for $300 cause non of his mechanics couldnt figure this out. His friend wouldve given it for free to my neighbor if he accepted it. So dumb! Lol

You can get a door stopper that fits for cheaper at the auto parts store.

Same thing happened on my car. I used one of the plastic clips that is used all over the back half of the interior. It's such a bitch to work under there that I'm just leaving it as is for now. When I pull the dash I'll do it right.

It's worked great actually. I only meant it to be a few month stopgap, but it's been working fine for a year. Totally recommend it since it's definitely something you only want to do once. Dunno if I'd trust tape, but the clip works perfectly. I took some pics for my blog here.

dont really need pics to show the step ... what i did was go under my dash fith a flashligt .... follow the brake peddal up... u see the switch and now suppose it as like a ring open on the pedal and the switch is a tiny stick sticking out.... well i was creative and used a bolt and two nuts one on each side so i could even adjust it when i just press lay my foot on it it turns on :s101:

good luck

Brakelights donít work Ė why? (http://givemeshred.com/brakelights-dont-work-why/)

sorry to bump an old thread, but for anyone attempting to do this ryandriftingfats method works great. the only thing i suggest is to make sure the car is running when installing the fastener behind the stop lamp switch. I spent over an hour trying to get that thing on and was about to give up, you will understand when attempting. Anyways the brake pedal was giving me the most problems because it was hard to apply pressure to it with one arm. I started the car, brake pedal went further down and i got the fastener in within one minute.

This is a typical fix to a common problem, no need to explain how much you failed, at the fix.
You don't have too push on the brake pedal while the engine is off, just the switch. after your done start the car and confirm you did the job correctly.
