hey guys i have a 95 240sx and just got a shift light today. there are 3 wires coming out: red, black, green. black is obvious, you need to ground it. the red wire goes to power, but what im confused about is what power source should i connect it to? and directions say you need to find the tach terminal, and connect the green wire to it. so i now know what to connect the wires to, but where are these things?

why do you need a shift light if your car has a tach?

it probably goes to your tach wire

red - power
green - signal
black - ground

The best place to get a signal would be on the wires on your cluster that are for the tach. Pull your cluster out and find them.

Why not just look at your tach......

If you have a tendency to "bounce" off the rev limiter, then this might be a good idea.......so would Rocker arm Stoppers if your SR...

If he tapped into the tach signal wouldnt his light be constantly flickering? I think hes looking for an adjustable signal.. which i think you have to make yourself

Say an RPM activated switch of some sort
