Hey guys, I just bought a 93 240sx 5spd hatch, and it has an odd noise that sounds like it's coming from the motor bay. The best way to describe the noise would be a whine I guess, it almost sounds like an electric scooter accelerating lol. It only happens in gears 1-3 when first accelerating after changing gears. Once I'm into 4th gear, the noise is gone. I know it has to be either the tranny or the differential. I have tried searching and the closest problem that I could find related to mine, the guy described his as a high-pitched whining sound. Mine's not high pitched, that's why I'm doubting that it's my problem. They were telling him that it could be his input shaft bearing. I just want to get more opinions on what it could be, it's the only issue I'm having with the car and I want it resolved asap. Thanks guys. If you have any questions I will answer them.
