Well here is the story so I have had about 4 diff 240's and this time I want to do something a little diff well back when I desided to do that is my plan is for a 2jz swap. Since I am no way near having tons of cash flow I have a N/A 2Jz but If you know anything about them they still have some strong sides, forged rods, and crank same as the turbo motor and a very high flowing head. well here are a few pics to start thanks for looking.

You have such a low post count for being an active member so long haha.

Looks good though! Engine bay cleaned up very nicely. Car pics??

And what kinda power can a 2JZ lay down NA? Dont know shit about them unless they're strapped to a t77 or some shit haha.

Output is 220 hp JIS (158 to 169 kW) at 5800 to 6000 rpm and 209 to 220 ft.lbf (283 to 298 Nm) of torque at 3800 to 4800 rpm.

Low post count comes from being active on another board that seems to be dyeing so I feel this forum will become my new home.

Once I got it in it was time to do some wiring I found that I only had to wire up about 6 or 7 wires to get it to fire up

http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz183/datsunguy1984/DSC07827.jpg

http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz183/datsunguy1984/DSC07826.jpg

After about 2 hours of wiring it started up on the first crank I was really happy to hear it start the motor it self has about 75k miles I had the valve covers off and they were really clean so I am happy about that.

once everything was in I ran into a few problem first who ever had the car before me cross threaded all the trans mounting cross member bolts so I had to drill them out and heal a coil them.

Once that was all fixxed my shifter was about a inch and a half forward of where it need to be. keep in mind they do make a kit to fix this problem they have a longer shifter housing and shifter rod I think 2jz swap makes it and its about 400 dollars I may be off on that price. so what I did was I ordered a 1jz shifter housing and rod that gave me about a half inch back and for the other inch i heated the shifter and reshaped it.

looks good, what mounts did you use so the n/a intake would clear the hood? i always figured it would hit.

s14pit
12-27-2010, 11:28 PM
I have Rucas mounts with solid engine mounts the intake used to touch the hood the I cut down the emgime mounts tell the sub oil pan was about a 1/8 inch from the rack. then it cleared with no further problems.

Cool, thats some good info right there. best of luck with the rest, i'm excited to see how it turns out. i think bang for buck a NA-T 2JZ is a pretty damn way to go.

AWESOME BUILD! I daily drive my SC300 with a 2JZGE and I dont care what anyone says, boosted or not, 2JZs are awesome engines. Mine has 210K on it and runs better then most cars Ive driven with lower mileage.

Im droppin a 1JZGTE into my S14 but still missing a few parts to make it driveable, $$$ is the main issue.

I think someone needs to work out an aftermarket upgrade for the N/A 2JZ intake manifold, because the whole cross over is a bit annoying especially when doing regular maintenance such as spark plugs on the car. Also with the intake going over next to the exhaust I imagine it heat soaks quite a bit.

I think a light weight flywheel, a nice header, intake, and a few mods and that N/A 2JZ will come to life. That with the light weight of the 240 and it will be plenty fun for driving. And as far as reliability... honestly I think theres no way you can pop that thing especially with 75xxx on it.

GOOD LUCK!!! SUBSCRIBED

There are a few companies out there that make front facing intake manifolds for the 2JZ-GE. i know there are a few "ebay" brands and a few nicer ones out there. seem they work pretty well.

I have also picked up a few things such as a steering spacer, power steer reservoir with AN fittings welded on and also some poly rack mounts. all from Efrain at suspicious garage Thanks buddy. well now to the bad news all good things have there bad. As I was driving from Future to Suspicious I found that my trans had no 1st or 3rd gear. I got this trans thinking it was good to go but you all know how that is. So friday I will be pulling the trans out and taking it apart to see what is going on with it. I guess there goes my coils fund wheels fund but depending on whats wrong I will be putting the marlin crawler shift fork, thrust washer and bearing plate. I hope to have more pics up this weekend and some good news on my R154 trans problem.

Well here is a little update I have my trans back in after the rebuild. It feels great, I just picked up some Future Fab modified knuckles and boxed s14 lower control arms and also a steering spacer. I will be installing these items when I get up with a alignment also. Here are a few pics to go along with this also some before pics of the steering angle.
Future Fab helped with getting my exhaust done also

I also put my res on so that when I am ready for my front facing manifold I wont have to wory about my power steering res. I have to make it back to suspicious garage to finish the lines.
http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz183/datsunguy1984/DSC08053.jpg
Before knuckles and control arms and steering spacer I am sure I wont have full lock until I get a better offset rim but that is coming

A supra is a really heavy car at 3400 pounds and a 240 2600 pounds so this motor feels really good in this car. I have driven lots of supras and they are not a car to just go out and drift or road race.

yeah but 240's well... they kinda suck. supras on the other hand, suck much less.

i think the 240's are good, basic, tin cans. i have an sc too, its really strong and well built.. but much heavier.

i am curious what your car weighs. put it on the scales. guaranteed over 3k, my guestimation.

as a fellow 2JZ S13 person.

i've had mine on the scales S13 coupe, base model 98% full interior (no back seat, but a piece of sheet metal and carpet over it, and a bolt in cage, no spare tire, but a 250 piece tool set and some oil/fluids/etc and it weighed at like 28XX on a grain scale (not sure how accurate those are on lighter weights) Thats with a 2JZGTE AUTOMATIC single turbo.

that setup is getting put into another s13 coupe this one with full power options and will get weighed with full interior i'll post up the weight when its done.

The exhaust was done by future fab here in phoenix.

Need toe rods for the rear
rear dent wont come out from the fender pull
fender alignment gets messed up from when I go to drift events at full lock my tire hits the fender at times.

I have been really trying to work on my driving skills I try and change at least one thing on my car for every event. One time I toyed with my alignment the next was more alignment like less camber in rear more caster up front. Next it was tire sizes and ride height and more alignment. This time it was dampening, this adjustment more effects than I could ever imagine. I started with both to full stiff this made out great out back Bad up front making me under steer bad. so I adjusted it all the way loose this made for real grippe feel with over steer so a little fine tune it felt better. the rear I adjusted a little softer maybe in the middle of adjustment felt great.

Congrats....I am sure the car is a gem and fun to drive. I myself am working on a 2jzge swap (72k miles on motor and clean) into an s14. I went a little bit crazy as I always do and instead of keeping the car stock for a while i started upgrading things here and there. So unfortunately the car wont be complete till the end of the summer. Thank you for the motivation, looking at these threads and watching the video assures me I made the right choice when I decided not to swap in my fully built SR20det and go with a more reliable and very stout 2jzge. Keep up the good work.

No those 2 valve cover are the start of the next motor for this car a 1.5jz with a 2jz turbo bottom end with wisco pistons in it stock rods. and some other fun stuff.

Late late response but why go with the old head? If youve heard the rumor about how the older GTE head flows better then the 2jzgte head its a false rumor... the 2JZGTE head does flow better and better volume of air. Here is what breaks that rumor.

" It has been a very common rumor on here for a long time that the 1JZ head flows better than the 2JZ. This has lead to alot of people doing the 1.5JZ swap or atleast wanting to. Over the last few weeks I have been building a 1JZ, including porting the head, for a customer. I flowed the head on our SF-600 flow bench before and after I ported the head.

A stock 2JZ flows about 238in and 154ex at .400 lift. A stock 1JZ head flows 215in and 133ex at .400 lift. After I did a good street port job including reworking the chamber the 1JZ head flowed 230in and 152ex at .400. This should put to rest the idea that the 1JZ head is better than the 2JZ, because the fact of the matter is that it is not better.

Erin "

That is off of another forum but its all true and the 1jz with 2jzgte block is false. you'll be better off just getting a full 2jzgte..

car looks nice by the way i love it.

s14pit
07-14-2011, 12:17 PM
I am not doing a 1jz because I thought that it flowed better I am doing because I have about 3 1jz motors laying around. I have a full running 1jz motor set that is going in my car next. I also have a true 2jzgte short block that is getting rebuilt and getting one of my other 1jz heads put on it only because I have them laying around. I use this car to drift and I dont need crazy power like most people with 1jz or 2jz want. I only want reliable power with good torque.

Question. What exactly do you do with that radiator setup when you want to drain and do a coolant flush?

s14pit
08-21-2011, 10:42 AM
well when you want to drain the cooling system have to just take one of the -16's off to drain and on mine we moded the radiator so its a dual pass so both hoses are on top.

Well after the drift event last night I found that I am going to be adding power steering to my car no power steering is not for me fighting it all the time.

I had a piece of metal get stuck in the waste gate keeping it open.

yup yup. JZ harnesses are super easy to adapt. Gerald actually is using the 2j electronics/injectors so we gutted the auto stuff and all the unnecessary plugs. depinned all the wires out of the ecu plug, routed them how we wanted and pinned them back in. also replaced all the broken clips which JZ harnesses have a lot off.

This car is awesome, one of the fastest big builds ive ever participated in, and turned out great! The only thing that really needs to be finished is the side and top ducting for the vmount to get the whole effect.
