weird bumping noise from rear?

I have a 89 240 and recently i've been hearing some weird bumping noise coming from the back when i'm driving or braking. Its the sound you get wehn u go on the lane dividers..those little bumps. I have no idea what it could be. any thoughts? could it be the suspention?

jack up car
remove wheels
inspect all bushings and arms

either that or you got something banging around in your trunk.
