post any info you have for installing air-to-water intercoolers in s/z chassis, nissan engines etc.

an a-t-w intercooler seems like a cool idea. Air to Water Intercooler (http://www.frozenboost.com) has some DIY parts that look decent enough for the job

if you have knowledge on the subject please post the pros and cons for such an installation as well as anything else related; such as heat exchanger sizes/water tanks/etc

Curious as to under what circumstances this is even necessary. When is a big old good quality front mount not enough?

While air to water is neat, they really are not the most 'ideal' for most cars. Between mounting a heat exchanger, the lines, and fabbing up the actual intercooler, it can become a real nitemare.

I know first thand though if you're looking for best performance it's always awesome to add a water tank in the trunk, but with anything you'll need a sufficient H/E up front still.

In the end of the day, a cheap air to air is the best/easiest setup. You still need to run the pipework regardless, just less things to worry about.

On paper the water to air is best...on street hower, it really is not. Ask the Eaton Cobra/Lightning guys how quickly their IAT's skyrocket with that street based a-w setup...yuck!

I've only seen those types of intercoolers on drag cars. nothing that runs for any elongated period of time.

^^^ agreed my cousin is currently mocking one for his dodge dart 572! he is only doing this because he is thinking of using a blower.

Yep. Track cars only for sure.
