ive got a sr20 in my 96 240, its a redtop completely built with a 3037, this guy said he would sell me his t88 for 1200 its a greddy t88 34d, do you think its worth the upgrade or just stick with the 3037?

Unless you want a very laggy drag turbo I'd stick with the T3. They use T88's on drag Supras and are still laggy with an extra liter and 2 cylinders. For streetable power the 3037 should be a better match.

Have you compared any compressor maps?

Also you'd need a new manifold and a ton of tuning work to make it run properly, when it sounds like that's mostly taken care of already with the 3037.

From the very very limited turbo tech that I've read, I would agree; don't bother with a T88, it's way too big for an SR. ... unless maybe you're bored/stroked to 2.2 and are revving up to 11k... Even then, I imagine a t88 to be on the big side.

your spool time would be measured with a sundial

Yeah it would take a lot of encouragement above and beyond the SR to spool that T88...like 2 SR's or an electric motor as a helper (that might be worth some R & D just for feasibility)

With the T88 you can tune your car for boneville :D

yeah i understand the lag, but tuning isnt really a issue cause i have stand alone right now and i was going to go back to the dyno and retune anyways, the reason i was consitering it is cause i was looking at the quarter mile times, right now ive got arias pistons crower rods, and the heads completely built with 264 cams, do you think that the t88 would put the car in the low 10 opposed to the 3037 being in the high 10s to mid 11s? plus nitrious would help with the lag alittle, just curious cause i think im going to put this engine thats in my car into a race car and it wouldnt really be on the street, my engine now is copletely built and theres nothin much else to do but bigger turbo, so.

you will go slower with the T88 because it will not spool in accordance with your powerband. proper sizing of a turbo is crucial. if you can rev to 11k or more, then it might be ok...but if you can only get to 8 grand, the T88 will give you about a 1500 rpm powerband. you'll spool at about 6500, and then it'll be almost time to shift. at which point, you'll be below the powerband in the next gear. it will suck. don't do it.
