So yesturday....

Had it towed a garage, and I checked the compression. 800kph/120psi was the reading on all 4 cylindars. Defintely didn't blow any rings. The plugs were fouled with carbon...a lot of it. I cleaned them off, and the car started up after about 4 attemps. The A/F was reading 10s. Shows me that the car is running way rich at idle.

Took the plugs out again, and cleaned them off one last time, and took the car and made a few passes to get all that crap out. The car is now at my house and can idle with an A/F of 11 to 13.9.

When I got home, I took the brake cleaner and sprayed all the IC connections, nothing sucking it in. Checked all the vacumm lines, and are good. (At least that I know of so far) As of right now, the car is running normal. Sometimes at idle, the car revs up to 1500rpms then to 800rpms back and forth, until it idles nicely. But not always..

Here's some videos and pictures:

This is to show how my car should be running and sounding when running correctly. Noticed the A/F. 12-13 is what it should be at, at idle. However lately (April) it has been running 10s. Timing was set at 15 degrees with 93 Octane with about a 950rpm idle.

Engine has recently started to run rich. Not sure of the reason yet, but what it is doing is causing my spark-plugs to be covered with the expected black fluffy soot which makes the spark hard to burn the fuel.

After I cleaned the spark plugs the engine still hesitated to start. Eventually it started giving it slightly some gas and then holding the revs at about 1000rpms.

I have straight pipe exhaust minus the cannon. As you can see from the black soot, my engine is running way rich. My A/F gauge shows 10s!

And for your viewing pleasure. My cannon was about 1/2 from scraping the deck.

120 is not good. Should be about 160-180. Put a cap of oil in each cylinder and try again .see if it goes up.

Will do, I'll have to get a camera down that hole to take a look at it too.

Its probably the plugs, They do go bad and can cause this. Cleaning them wont wont fix it. It written somewhere your not suppose to clean Iridium plugs.

Im sure Sanzyou's has some or Taguchi's can get some. If not order them from phase2 or Enjuku.

and check the Coolant Temp Sensor

I just had the exact same problem, one of my injector o-rings was leaking. Its an easy thing to check.

how do you check for this?

how do you check for this?

Pull the fuel rail off, but leave all the line hooked up. Turn the key to accessory and the rail will pressurize. If there is fuel leaking or spraying they need to be replaced.

are you talking about how to test the injector or the o-rings?

I had the same problem on my sr, the knock sensor went out due to my crazy ass mounts, so i put a resistor in and ran like new. Also could be the injector o rings, you need to pull the rail and inspect the injectors at the tip there should be some, and check the main Big O ring thats on the intake manifold could be leaking air.

...it was the igniter. I swapped it out with a good one. Gave the engine a few high-revs to clean the carbon out, and eventually the engine and A/F went back to normal.
