ok so i have a ka24de motor in my s13
my question ... hissing/squirting sound coming from oil pump possibly?? i ask because i seem to get a OIL light on my cluster it flickers sometimes after i hear the sound.. i checked i have oil in my motor of course and not 1 leak anywhere.
im sure my oil pump is going out.. i have BABBBBBYYY LIGHTEST knock going on in my motor aswell(wich i noticed about 40 min ago) a motor being starved of oil we know destroys it,maybe changing the oil pump is worth it?? possibly lasting me 3 more months with this motor?? compression is perfect in the motor as of now. pulls damn good aswell.

when that oil light comes on its too late.

You gotta rebuild or swap in a newr engine

honestly its probably the easiest major component to change on your motor so why not? but if its knocking and your for sure its rod knock no matter how minor, the damage is done and anything you do at this point is putting a band aid on a bullet wound.

you have a good point..i figure if i change the pump (so it doesnt get starved more.) and just drive smooth hopfully ill be fine for a month or so till i have enough to finally sr.THIS was going ot be the motor for KA-T but id rather have something that has proven less miles. funny thing is i have only had this motor in for like ...3 months at most..? lol
well today im going to test the pump out and see how bad it is.

dont be suprised if you take the timing cover apart and look at the oil pump gear and dont notice any signs of wear. gear rotor oil pumps typically last a very very long time. every nissan motor ive known to knock was due to low oil never from an oil pump failure.

Well today I'm going to get prices on getting the bottom re done. What in the oil pump would be making that noise?

if you are hearing noises down there you may want to check your oil pick up as well... if you may have dinged up your oil pan then you most likely damaged your oil pickup strainer too which would cause that noise.

youve got snakes in your engine and you should replace the oil pump asap

YES i think i have one of those deadly V-TaK snakes in there.
BUT i have a baby rod knock going on.. the chances of that going away is not possible even after changing the pump correct??
