i bought my car last week and im trying to put in my 3'' exhaust...
the car has a Megan racing testpipe and i noticed that its shorter than a stock cat.
las nite i went to put in the exhaust and it fits somewhat fine, i say this bc some of the hangers are not aligned with the exhaust...
could this be bc of the test pipe being shorter???

I want this fixed bc now i drive the car and i hear metal shakingon high rpms, like the exhaust pipes is hitting the chasis or subframe somewhere.

Thanks Zilvia peeps!

i have a megan test pipe also and my HKS catback rattles off of the rear tow hook looking thing. idk how to fix this but my rear catback hangers would ride to far up the exhuast hanger and it would make the exhuast hit off the rear tow hook. i ended up ducttaping the hanger to where it needed to stay and its not a super good repair but it worked no more clinging? idk if this helps but goodluck.

My exhaust sits up high and the canister hits the Rear tow hook.. I was thinking about taking off the rear driver side tow hook.. if that's possible.

Are you sure you guys got the correct exhausts for your chassis? My GReddy Ti-C catback mounted up perfectly to my S14 save for a few bangs of the hammer on one of the mounts, as did my Circuit Sports 3" test pipe (which was actually labeled for 89-94 models)..

Most people just cut the tow hook off (I did).

No more problems.

As far as having the correct exhaust system goes, there's obvious differences between 89-94 and 95-98 exhausts.

S13 exhaust hangers are fairly close together.

S14's are really far apart.

mine is s13 for sure, also my exhaust doesnt look like is hitting the tow thingy, i feel the tack tack tack more toward the middle of the car, like in between the rear subframe and the testpipe, but i'll take a look at it today...

It might be hitting the driveshaft.

Mine tapped the driveshaft from time to time. So, had to buy new hangers.

Mine used to hit on the small brace that goes under the driveshaft, it drove me nuts for a month until I figured out wtf it was hitting. It could also be hitting on your rear sway bar.

could just be hiting your floor too. ive got nismo mounts and my header hits my floor every once in a while. i hit the floor a few times with a hammer and it fixed it for the most part :P youd probably be able to feel it if it hit your floor though

Get circuit sport exhaust hangers. They're a bit pricey, but they absorb almost all the exhaust vibration so your exhaust doesn't move.

mine used to rattle a bit on that tow hook too but i just cut mine off. no more rattle for me.

found the issue with the exhaust vibration!!!!! it turns out that the shorter test pipe does mess up the fitment (its shorter than the stock cat) i have some pix to show ya:

so thanks to that ^ , the resonator is not clearing as u can see on the followin pic:

and that ^ , messes up the measurement of one of the rear hangers as u see on this pic below:

I was going to put the CAT back on, BUT, one of the studs is broken, and i said "thats fine, i just take that broken one off and use another bolt+nut i have and viola!" BUT, that half stud its ON there like a BIT** so i couldnt take it out....
