View Full Version : Is this what a timing belt that is about to break looks like?

Not sure if my belts are going bad but from underneath the car, it looked pretty bad.
What do you think?

EDIT: Sorry I put "timing" by habit in the title. I just meant belts in general lol I feel pretty dumb ^_^

Thats not a timing belt its an accessory belt has nothing to do with timing. replace it!

One is cracked, the other is soaked in oil. Change your front main while your replacing the belts.

front main seal. a seal that is behind the crank pulley

take it down to the car wash and power wash the front of the motor too. clean is nice you can see the leaks that way

and keeps your hands clean when you work on your car :D

mine looked worse when i changed them... but i would clean that oil and get some new belts if i were you

if you can see any cracks or sections of belt material missing it needs to go. grab the belt and twist it a little by hand because you cant always see cracks especially when the belts on our setups dont run on the backside at any point like serpentine belts on larger setups on newer cars with only one belt and a spring loaded tensioner.
