rod knock is quite at idle and when rev'd it get louder/faster through the RPM's

Check the oil for gold (brass bearing shavings)

If you got gold, then time for a rebuild

forsure.. yeah i didnt even change the oil in that bitch before i started it.. i was so excited to get it started and way to impatient.. thanks tho.. but the thing is it doesnt knock at all at idle.. but then again i didnt listen that long the motor only ran for like 30 seconds before i turned it off..

any other input people?

thanks again

that's up to you, after you do that pull the oil pan and look for metal.

ok and if it doesnt have metal or gold what other possibilities are there to what the knock could be..

you say you haven't changed the oil, meaning it could be low, if it is it could be lifters ticking.

Wow, you went wrong from the get go...

1. Pull oil pan off check for chunks of bearings it will look like this if it has a rod knock

Thats my oilpan when i bought my sr i had to rebuild it...

2. If it doesnt look like that it could be a possible lifter noise(from sitting so long) and they will need to be bled.

dont turn it back on if it knocked on the way up in the revs its top end if it knocks as you come off the revs and down then bottom end every time you turn it on wat ever is knocking is knocking bits of the inside of your sr!!!

Yah I'm not turning it back on. And the knock is as I go up in Reva and as it comes back down to idle so it is top end?

Joey89s13

Wait wait wait it knocks as I go up in Revs. But not at idle or when I start it.

Its a spun rod bearing.

You will not hear the knock at idle only when reving the engine.

I think you mean:

So what, man. Just because you're not getting lean (?) and being lazy. Just trying to help a guy out. Didn't see any useful comments from you!

I tried to fix it, but it's almost not possible to do that, since I can't even tell what you are trying to say about "lean".

Also, I DO actually apologize ahead of time if English is not your first language.

It certainly seems like you speak English but are just being too lazy to type it correctly and punctuate so that people can actually understand what the hell you said.

Thanks man.....but it's YOU'RE!!!! Come on!

The reputation of the forum suffers the more times that people post comments and use poor English, poor punctuation, or are just too lazy to type words out.

^^^ It's spelled B-R-O-A-D-E-N. Stop posting please.

I know it's you're.

And lol at "brouden". that sounds like soup.

But to stay on topic.

How much do you think it would cost me to do a full rebuild with quality parts?

....because there is no reason to expect that if someone can't do something as simple as form coherent sentences, that they should be able to do more complex tasks, like build motors or diagnose electrical problems.

Sure there are exceptions, but in general, most of the posts on this forum with terrible grammar are also just terrible posts.

Not going to talk about it any more. Done.

Yeah well I'm clearly 1 of them ppl as iv built 2 s13's 1 with an sr conversion, now a R32 and all self tought and I'm sure there are loads more ppl so yeah done!!!

And it'll cost quite a bit 2 rebuild whole engine but if done right u'll have a bullet proof sr!!!!

Ok, so I dropped the oil pan just now. And while it didn't look as bad as the one in the picture above, it did have little
bits of metal and sparkles in it. So it's rod knock. Thanks everyone for the help I'll post pics of the oils pan later, as I am on my iPhone.
