Why can't I take off my springs?

So I got a spring compressor and tried to switch out my bushing in my front springs and I failed. The top of the perch keeps on sliding when I tried taking off the nut in the top. How is everyone doing this thing. Is there a special tool for the perch?

have you tried using a impact gun?

what you do is...first losen (not take it all off) the nut then compress the spring...or the way easier way is to losen (not take it all off) the nut with the suspension on and the car on the ground...its way easy and the force of the wieght will not let it slip and turn while you unbolt....

No on the impact gun but that makes sense doing it while installed.
