I have been looking at all the FSMs, The s14 SR FSM says to tighten them to

0.8-1.0 kg-m which is 5.8-7.2 Ft lbs.

The S13 SR japanese FSM Says to tighten them to

1.2-1.5 kg-m which translates to 8.6-10.8 Ft lbs.

I also looked at the FWD SR FSM and it says

0.8-1.0 kg-m as well just like the s14 sr one.

Why would this be? What is the proper torque spec for it? Im wondering why the S13 FSM says something different than the other two??

I need to figure this out asap haha any help is appreciated.

It's a valvecover nut... The trq doesn't really play a major factor in anything besides keeping oil from leaking/seeping out. If I'm not mistaken, you can only tighten them down so far as it is because of the collar.

Yeah man just do it by feel.....you don't want to overtighten them and break something.

10 ft-lbs is not much......

Yeah thats true, I guess feel it is i just wanted to make sure it was going to be perfect, it is just strange that the s13 sr has a different torque spec for the nuts than the s14/fwd sr. I appreciate all the input guys

yeah the S14 SR also has more nuts and studs than the S13.

I have the S14 SR and an S13 blacktop, so that's how I know.

IIRC, the only english version out there is for S14SR.

follow the FSM...set it to the middle of the range.

makes sense i just tightened them and torqued to 7ft lbs, it feels tight. Any more than that will just be compressing the rubber washers even further and possibly indent the metal washers. It looks good now.

I was fortunate enough to have access to an in-lb tq wrench last time I had mine off, so it was no problem....but most clicking tq. wrenches don't go below 10 or 20 ft-lbs.

Yeah this one was a low torque snap-on wrench, i believe its for engine internals mainly it only goes up to 50 ft lbs. It starts at 5 ft lbs.

^exactly right, its not rocket science.

If you attempt to go any further it will strip the stud from the head.
