Ok, one thing that i've really been wondering about lately, is why most intercoolers are designed the way they are. From reading maximum boost, there should be more vertical fins rather than longer horizontal fins because this will create more room for the air to flow. Every intercooler I see from HKS, Spearco, etc. seems to have long horizontal fins though... Why??

Ok.. I've never thought about this at all.. but I'm just assuming that it's to give a decent throttle responce. If you have a 24"x10"x3" FMIC, you have about 15 rows horizontally. That would turn into close to 100 rows vertically, and the air would move through very slowly.
I think that a slight pressure drop is acceptable to reduce lag.

Well, from what Corky Bell says, it's exactly the opposite. Since all of those vertical fins create more room for the air to flow through. I'll have to see if I can find the reference in the book.
