Hey guys, i recently had a ka put in my 240 and i went for a drive, and all of a sudden the car shut off, lights and everything. smoke came out under the car, and when we popped the hood a black liquid smelled like something melted came out from the starter. there was no power in the beginning then we moved the ground wire from the battery and then the dome lights came on. tried to start the car again, and when i turned the key sparks shot out of the starter. is this because i have a bad starter or is there anything else that could have caused this?

That black liquid was most likely epoxy that had melted. I wouldn't suggest trying to start your car being as how you can start an electrical fire. Somewhere your positive cable is grounding out the engine or something.
