im planning on building an SR swapped S13.

my eventual goal is 350-400hp to the wheels.

this car would be used for primarily street use and drag racing but might also do the occasional drift or autox.

i have seen the autopower bars/cages.

would you suggest the bar with cross brace or a full cage that extends to the front of the car

For a street car, the Bar is all I would get.. your not gonna break 12's with that power, so NHRA won't require a full cage.

Climbing over door bars to get in your car everyday is a Bish...

i know that a 400whp sx is capable of high 11s. but thats on slicks. at sea level.

i live at 6000ft. the nearest drag strip is also at 5800ft

easy way to settle this...

build it and see if you run a sub 12... then look for a cage... this way you save all the money on the cage until you really need it ^_^

or just don't build a cage, buy a cusco cage in the group buy thats going on.

ive herd the cusco cage is not legal for competition

Damn, really? Well its probably cheaper to make a custom one anyways

if you consider an average quote for a custom cage at ~700 to be cheaper, then, sure!

thats average, maybe a little high

like Maeda said, just build the car and see what it runs first. you have a long ways to go it looks like.. do you even have the car yet?

I'm not sure but isn't the autopower also not recognized to the standards

The 4 pt. bar is not, but their cage is. Also, adding two additional forward braces to the 4 pt. bar will make it legal (SCCA, not sure about NHRA).
