View Full Version : Anybody running Street Prepared in AutoX?

In the next month or two I'm fixing to (hopefully) jump from Stock class to St. Prepared...and I was wondering about how much HP the car would be pushing with all SP engine mods. I assume the car would still be streetable/reliable. I don't have a rule book in front of me, but some of the mods I recall are:
-unlimited intake/header/exhaust
-cat can be modified/removed
-unlimited intake manifold (do they make a hi-perf one for the 240?)
-match ports
-mill head .0100
-overbore .04?? (I don't think this much would be practical--maybe .02 or something?)
-replace pistons with oversize pistons, but they must be same style (i.e. not dome if original was flat)
-certain backdates (maybe '91 intake cam is eligible)
-replace OEM fan w/ electric unit
-aftermarket accessory pullies but other pullies must me OEM
-ignition system
-no f/i
-probably some other stuff...
Can you give me a ballpark figure?

I too would like to know some power numbers from NA modified KA's. Have you checked out www.pdm-racing.com ? He has a Dynojet graph of a KA with pulleys, intake (should be called induction tube), maybe headers and the cams he sells. 163 at the wheels.

Nobody??

Ok, how about my other questions...

Does anyone make a high-flow intake manifold for the 240? If not, can the stock one be modified?

Is it safe to overbore the KA? If so, by how much?

I don't think there is a replacement manifold, just the induction tubes. Here's a mod I think might work though...

Since the intake is in two sections, remove the section that connects the TB to the "lower" manifold and fabricate a new plenum. This would provide for shorter runners and should help high RPM tuning effects.

Look at the pics of a project 240SX on www.sdsefi.com There isn't much space between the cylinders to bore it out.

I kinda figured you would reply with something like that. Oh well...I guess some good ol' trial and error is in my future.

one trick to make horse power is.... take out the four butterflies in the intake manifold!!! and port the intake manifold ... take out all that shit in there. the shit look like pimples nah... haha its just metal sticking up shave that shit off. make sure its port matched so take your time heheh have fun
