Could you clarify just a little bit? What part of the syncro are you looking for? Blocking ring maybe?

ummm, this is genereally not a DIY type of thing. Bring the tranny to a shop and have them rebuild it for you, and make sure they use OEM parts. Expect to pay in the >$500 range... I'm guessing about $700 - 900.

Or you can just look into buying a used tranny for a little cheaper. It all depends on how much you look.

Reverse is not synchro'd. If you're moving when shifting into reverse, it will grind. First gear is always hard to shift into, even on new cars. When do you really shift into first though? As long as 2 and 3 are good, I'd personally stick with it.

I had this same problem, it being hard to shift into first and reverse. And then slowely all my gears were getting harder to shift into... Then, I couldn't get into any gear and I was stuck in Chicago, not fun at all:mad: But, my point.... check your clutch assembly(pressure plate, disk, throw out bearing, etc)

If they are grinding then the speed gears aren't being brought up to speed by the blocking ring. That is normally the piece that wears anyways. Just do what adey said and get it done by a tech. It'll save you a lot of troube.(Like losing detent balls and such)

just blip the throttle to first, if that doesn't work drop the clutch while in neutral blip the throttle re-engage the clutch and shift.

Lot cheaper than tranny work and speeds up shifts.
